If its Alf Duncan

Is there even a debate to be had here? Angeloni knows him personally and has seen him at the closest of quarters. What could any of us add?

aye but has angeloni seen those youtube vids?

seriously tho i agree with you here, i would much rather trust angeloni's judgement of a player than a few lads on rtg who have seen a few vids of him. i know its a radical and unprecedented viewpoint but hey ho !!!

the thing is that duncan should walk into our midfield regardless of his current experience. larsson tries his socks off and is currently the obvious choice to partner cabral but as soon as we sign anyone for that position larsson will be dropped. make no mistake.

god help us if he starts the season in there with cabral

Whoever we have lined up, I'm pretty sure we as a club have done our homework and arent signing someone on the evidence of youtube etc. On the face of it , the people we've brought on aboard appear to have a hell of a lot of knowledge and experience of the market, certainly more than anyone posting on a fans messageboard.

Agree with all of that. Larsson is the man to displace at the moment and it shouldn't be too hard.

The argument on here seems to be:

OP: "Is it a risk signing Duncan since we know nowt about him?"
Almost everyone: "Dunno mate, don't know owt about him"
Mooseknuckle: "Massive risk. Know nowt about him. I'm a massive cockwomble."

Meanwhile, the person who does actually know a hell of a lot about him has been pushing for his signature all summer.

How dare you. No one knows more than people on here. They play football manager and FIFA you know.

he isnt a central midfielder and it shows time after time , we need it sorted or we dont progress , id be surprised however if under pdc he starts the season there ....imo

Where does he normally play, have to be honest haven't a bloody clue.

No but we clearly need a centre mid who can make an immediate impact.

It is very difficult for someone who has only had Serie B experience to do so.

what a sycophant you really are, pathetic.

We still need an experienced core of players and Larsson is one; alongside Jos, AJ & Wes. Yes were bringing in loads of fresh & exciting talent but we still need to have "premiership" experience through the spine of the team. It's pretty key to survival, QPR ignored that fact and that's what makes us different. I'm certain that Seb will feature a lot next season & I can see him working well with Cabral. Alf Duncan looks the real deal mind & if we do get him he'll be used more as an impact player.

Saye who? Cliché? Surely it's down to the individual.

Claudio Yacob popped over from Argentina last summer and made an immediate impact. Jelavic came from Scotland which is worse than Serie B standard and made an impact. Benteke came from the Jupiler League and made an immediate impact. Geoff Cameron came from the MLS and did well for Stoke.

Meanwhile, others who came from more reputable leagues failed to have any impact at all. There were half a dozen in January for the Mags for a start.

Where players come from offer precious few clues really. The quality of the player and application of the individual is everything, and whilst people bicker in blindness about semantics here, the bloke who knows him doesn't seem to think coming here and being a big asset is beyond him and his club have been resistant to selling him. Those are the real clues.

the kid has played 1 season in a professional league man. no matter how you dress that up it remains true.

i would rather have talent over hard working premiership experience any day. although i do agree that there will be times during the season, where the experience of the like of brown, JOS and even larson to an extent, will be pivotal in close games but i just think over the course of the season, talent and ability are the attributes that will have most effect on the success of the team.

I reckon with all the new lads and a fairly attacking front 5 or even 6 , we could maybe do with some experience in there rather than a potential. I mean someone like Stevan schwarz must be out there? A younger schwarz would fit beautifully in to this front 5.
