And hadn't played for them, would you like him more as a pundit?
Must admit I quite like him as a pundit tbh. Please only sensible adults reply and not radgies

Top quality player, awful commentator. To be fair most of them are. Carragher, Neville, Shearer and so on add little insight, just the usual soundbites. Souness and Keane much better.

People don’t like him on here because he played for them up the road. Although he has only done what every single one of us would give anything for, namely played for the team he loved and supported all his life. I really don’t mind him at all tbh.
I love Gazza and Beardsley and even Keegan.
I didn't grow up in or supporting Sunderland and had no issue with Newcastle until much later when I learned to not like them after what happened when Newcastle Fans found out I was a Sunderland fan.
I have just never liked Shearer.
I'm not saying he wasn't a great striker.

He's a bang average pundit. he won't criticize his mate Steve Bruce, he's a very well paid professional and he should say it as it is.
So called experts like Jenas, Owen, Merson, Jamie Redknapp, Savage, Lee Dixon and Danny Mills just make Shearer sound better than he is.
Shearer as a footballer is simply the best center forward of his generation, that is not in doubt.

Its almost as if most people from Newcastle are actually alright

People I know from Newcastle are spot on, much the same as us really. The ones I can't stand are the people from around our way (Peterlee) and other parts of Co Durham and Wearside who follow NUFC despite having no connection to the football team or area and pretend that they are Geordies and go on about how much they hate Mackems/SAFC. Absolute pondlife. In saying that I reckon most proper NUFC fans probably don't have much time for them either!

Tin hat on but I like him. He's a good pundit and seems like a funny, genuine bloke.

Enjoyed his podcast with the unbearable Troo Jawdee.

Doesn't really come up with much startling insight into the game he's been watching.

What I find really irritating is the way. The way he starts a sentence with the words. The words he's just used to finish the previous one.

It's as if he's not confident about what he's saying and has to pause to convince himself to complete what he was going to say.
