If a new carry on film were to be made?

Keira Knightley - Hattie Jacques

Ian Mckellen - Kenneth Williams

Helen Mirren - Barbara Windsor

Kenneth Branagh - Peter Butterworth

Maggie Smith - Joan Sims

Patrick Stewart - Charles Hawtrey

Anthony Hopkins - Sid James

Benedict Cumberbatch - Jack Douglas

He’s a proper dick head that fella! Would love to punch him in the throat or even better I watched road house again last night I’d like to Rip his throat out.
Out of interest why? Have you ever met him? What has he done that would mean that you would take pleasure in killing him?

They are all way too old. You need a cast about thirty or forty years younger than that.

She’s lost a lot of weight, like, she’s probably thinner than Hattie Jacques.

Carry On had its time but it’s waaaaay past its sell-by date.

You couldn’t do it these days because we don’t do subtle any more. Jokes are signalled ahead of being told, then we are told them, several times, then we get told what we have been told. It’s the sledgehammer approach rather than the velvet glove.

And we are way too coarse, knowing and vulgar to appreciate them any more unless we are of a certain age.

couldn't make a film of that ilk nowadays imo mate too offensive to too many
And yet we have very easy access to hard core porn on our tv's. It's a crazy world.
I don't think we have the actors these days to make a decent attempt at a carry on film. The last one they tried was poor compared to those of old.

Hang on ,, wasn't this done a few years ago with Julian "the fist" clary as the camp Kenneth Williams type and it was shìt ?
