Idea for SOL improvement

Fans Today.....Pampered lot...... Try Standing in a Torrential Downpour at the Roofless Roker End at Roker Park watching the Mighty Black Cats beating Notts County 4-0 and then walking back to Park Lane soaked and squelching for the Bus Home................Those were the Days!!!!
Or the snow blowing into your eyes

Repaint the blockwork within the concourses, new resin surface to the flooring throughout (as suggested above).

Update/rebrand the kiosks where possible.

Upgrade the sound system (I bet most speakers are from when the stadium was opened).

That would make a massive improvement for starters.

Pitch side the SOL is still a fantastic footballing arena. It's just the concourse areas which make you feel like you're stepping back in time 25 years.
Still stand by what I said months ago.

Would be fairly inexpensive (possibly bar new/upgrading the PA system however I'm baffled as to how the clip of the current system can pass a safety test for a venue). If something critical had to be told to the crowd half the stadium or more wouldn't be able to make out what was being said.

I like the idea of having the turnstiles separate from the stadium like Hertha Berlin do. There could be lots of kiosks and bars in between the turnstiles and stadium and would reduce the volume of people in the concourse areas.
A bit like when you go to a music festival. Granted the weather isn’t always the best for outdoor socialising.

Start the opening music later than what they do, it goes on and on before the teams emerge also get the young flag wavers started later they get knackered. Whoever’s in charge is f***ing useless

This might sound strange but some of the contributing factors to me not being bothered about going to actual matches when I packed in driving home to the ne was all the frigging premier league (at the time) playing loud music before the ‘running out music’, the lining up, the ‘premier league theme music’ the shaking hands along the line, (like every game was the fa cup final), the fella on the pa shouting at the crowd blah blah blah… When I watch on telly the kids lining up and waving the flags? It looks pathetic and Micky Mouse. We used to take the piss out of clubs (like Sheffield Utd iirc) who did all that. All this ‘build up’ nonsense got right in my wick. It’s bad enough on telly when you have ‘pundits’ woffling on for half an hour before the actual kick off. It’s just a game of football. Just get on and play it.

(Old bloke rant over).

Personally, I think the matchday experience at the SOL can only be improved IF the club install a scoreboard like we had at Roker Park. Not only did you need to be semi educated in order to understand the relationship between the games and the scores but by the time you had deciphered it, the second half would be ready to kick off.
You could always tell if the mags were getting beat

Sort out which end is actually the "home" end. It was the North stand, but since the away supporters have been in North Upper the South stand seems more like the "home" end. Club should move heaven and earth to put the away supporters in the northern part of the west stand lower where the TV cameras can't see them. Then have the whole of the North stand as the home end.

Widening the concourse(doable east and south stand) by making openings in present wall and creating a glasshouse area the length of the east and south stands...much mor room to make a usable space... should not cost that much!
