Idea for SOL improvement

Fans Today.....Pampered lot...... Try Standing in a Torrential Downpour at the Roofless Roker End at Roker Park watching the Mighty Black Cats beating Notts County 4-0 and then walking back to Park Lane soaked and squelching for the Bus Home................Those were the Days!!!!

No roof, torrential rain, squelching shoes, sounds class that

Aye.....Pop Robson scored just afore half time and Bobby Kerr got the second with Pop scoring again afore Vic Halom Vic Halom Vic Halom scored the fourth in front of 27 and half thousand sopping wet fans!!!!!!

I suppose those in the seats sitting on their hands, complaining rather than supporting as usual were dry but I guess Red and White Support comes in many different guises but quite frankly I am not too keen at sitting down at a Footy Match, it's not a ruddy Theatre

Me and me toe rag mates from Downhill tried to blag our way into the Clockstand to get out of the rain but the ruddy stewards were having none of it, so we went and stood behind the goal cheering on the Lads in the pouring rain!!!

Start the opening music later than what they do, it goes on and on before the teams emerge also get the young flag wavers started later they get knackered. Whoever’s in charge is f***ing useless

Clubs make relatively little on ticket sales, they barely cover the weekly wages of the players. To increase revenue clubs need to get people in the stadium complex all day on match day (instead of everyone drinking, eating elsewhere) and during the week like tottenham and others have done. We can achieve this by extending the concourses outwards (plenty of space on 3 sides) to add bars, restaurants, shops, entertainment... I'm thinking a small imax, bowling alley, ice rink, and the worlds first stadium roller coaster (football themed) that snakes around the stadium. Imagine the sol being the premier entertainment venue in the city, the place where everyone goes even when there is no match. The new foot bridges and sheepfolds redevelopment will make the area more accessible and desirable.

Obviously this will be an expensive development but you have to spend money to increase your revenue considerably.

Surely getting back into the top division comes ahead of all that though
The biggest improvement they can bring in cheaply and immediately is safe standing. The back few rows down at QPR were safe standing and it works brilliantly, much more secure than people standing in their seats. Robust bars front and rear means you can leap about when we score; no more hopping up and down to accommodate the weak of bladder or ravenous of appetite; and you can click the seat down at half time or if you need a rest!
There's a load of other things that need attention like the PA, screens, concourses, smoking/vaping areas, abysmal catering, nasty toilets, leaky roof, lack of paint, untrained stewards, and many more, even before we address matters like extensions or away support. Given a limited budget, I reckon safe standing delivers the best bang for your buck!
Standing does not increase revenue though. So there is no "bang for the buck" really.

I was looking at clubs who have improved their stadium infrastructure. Anybody think this would be something to replicate? Don't see why not with Premier League money, should we get promoted

Pink seats, walkway down to seats is full of limescale and paint job. So easy to fix and looks unsightly. So easy to fix!!

Yep, I was there - in the Roker End. Even the highlights on Shoot were affected by the deluge

That article was from 2021 when they were firmly established in the Premier League.

I bet they wouldn't undertake a £2.5m spend when they are in the Championship ..... and nor should we

I mean a start is literally having faster service with nicer beer and food. I’m not paying for a shit bottle of carling and the worlds hottest pie.
