To be honest I think its funny as fuck watching all these various footballers taking the big bucks, you could probablt play some kind of bingo to see which ones go next, im surprised it took Axel Witsel so long tbh.

In all fairness the vast majority of players heading over there grew up in horrible conditions and squalor, nothing wrong with them wanting to make sure as many of their family and friends and later generations dont have to live that life.

Some of them could make sure their entire countries abolish poverty ;)

I'll be so happy when all the big stars leave the English league and we actually have players that may have some passion to play for the team they are playing for, giving us more chance to produce good talent as well.

It'll fall around its way ears within 5 years imo. The interest isn't there to sustain it.

But, best of luck to them. I couldn't care less what they do or what happens. The PL has been a cash cow for years, so it's a bit rich (pardon the pun) to whinge about China.

So what. We'll always have our leagues and teams; if China takes mercenaries away, good luck and good riddance to them.
Dont get me wrong mate I cannot wait for it to happen, I am absolutelt f***ing sick of the way the game is going and apart from a few years under Reidy the Sky era has brought more misery and debt to Sunderland than what I thought possible.

I hate owt bad happening to us mate, I can't help it!

But you're right.

Well aye that's true but it's still shit that clubs abroad can just come a take any player off you they fancy.

English Clubs have been doing it to the rest of Europe for ages.

Look at Giaccharini for example. Lots of good italian clubs wanted him but none could compete with the wages we offered.

They probably could but I imagine for a lot of them its piece of mind, imagine knowing you could sort your bairns and their bairns.

I know many wouldnt admit it, but if I were playing professionally for anyone other than their lads i'd pack me bags and be off.

Literally the only thing that might put me off going to China for a few years is the air pollution

This, I was perfectly happy to watch football and I couldn't care less if a player could run 100m I'm half a second less than the players of the last 30 years, football is football and I'd watch it regardless.

In many ways I'd probably enjoy it more because the skills would improve if it wasn't so dominated by athlete's as much.

I went to see a big local Derby in Shanghai a three years ago. Nice stadium, big crowd, very enthusiastic. Good standard of play...(well compared to watching Newcastle )

They could do to football what India have done to Cricket.

Difference between the Chinese Super League and the Premier League is that English football has always had a huge tradition, big clubs who had won European Cups, huge fanbases, national sport etc. The Chinese don't care about football, they don't play it or watch it, no history or tradition of football at all. That said, there are a billion of them so you only need 10% of them to get involved...

Also, all this crap from 50 year old men about how they enjoyed football more when we were in the 3rd division etc. Maybe so, but do you really think today's generation (who have been brought up on Sky) would accept shit stadiums, shit pitches and shit football played by League 2 standard players? It's not going to happen - they'll just go and support Barcelona or some Chinese team instead.

Agree with this.

It's easy for fans who really care about the sport to say what they would do, but to a lot of players it's nothing more than a job, so fair play to them.
