I'm sure teams like Espanyol, Lille, Wolfsburg etc. have been thinking this about the PL for ages

This.
Can't wait till they chase the Chinese and throw obscene amounts of money at their league.
Because of my age (early 20s), I've known nothing but Sky/BT/Setanta etc. and despite seeing games I wouldn't have had the chance to otherwise, I really can't wait till it either implodes or they fuck off

But surely you can see the difference between wanting to play for Manchester United in the premier league compared to a Chinese club?

Of course, don't get me wrong, it's shite. Unfortunately there's no loyalty anymore. I wouldn't begrudge anyone a move to better their career, but when you're on ridiculous wages anyway in your prime and you then move to China to play football for about 5X the wage; you're a mercenary twat.
Exhibit A) Axel Witsel

If a player is in his twilight years and goes for one last payday and an easier standard, I don't see much wrong with that tbh (Gerrard/Lampard/Pirlo etc)

I'd love the see the TV money vanish from football, the ridiculous wages and high entry prices ....... thanks Jimmy Hill

The PL stinks to high heaven, I enjoyed our season in the 3rd division more.

I hope the Chinese destroy the PL tbh.
This, the Chinese Super League will be the beginning of the end of the PL as we know it.
Big clubs will feel threatened so go money chasing and organize games with PSG and Bayern in Australia & Dubai.

Totally true, the fear that we will no longer "compete" in the utopian world of the premier league.

I had better days at smaller grounds, crapper players, and shit pitches than most of our tenure in this league, if they have the brass and the will good luck to them.

As an aside China is a remarkable country, and most people will show no interest in the game imo (paying to get in). They are too down to earth (and poor)to be fooled.

Depends on the quality of Chinese players. If Europe continues to produce a lot of the best players the big clubs will just sell their best players to China for huge amounts and fund their continuiing dominance.

Not a single one of us on here would have turned down the money that was on offer to gyan at the time.
Easy to be righteously indignant from the sidelines or is hypocritical the word I 'm searching for.
Most of us are from working class backgrounds but such backgrounds make us look like spoilt hollywood brats compared to what the likes of gyan are used to.
The usual jumpers for goalposts will huff and puff as usual mind

What you appear to be missing here is that the Chinese clubs don't (currently) have to operate under the same financial rules as the clubs they are signing the players from.

Will you respond to that point?

Somehow I doubt it!

I'd like to think some players look to test themselves in the best leagues in the world and not just simply go for the money. Otherwise they'd all be playing for Arab and Chinese clubs no?
I totally agree mate, but you have to remember the Premiership in its early days was a crock of shit but one by one the better players came over just for the money and look at it now. Take away the vast sums in the Premier League and not many top players would come over here, they all follow the money matey.

It'll fall around its way ears within 5 years imo. The interest isn't there to sustain it.

But, best of luck to them. I couldn't care less what they do or what happens. The PL has been a cash cow for years, so it's a bit rich (pardon the pun) to whinge about China.

So what. We'll always have our leagues and teams; if China takes mercenaries away, good luck and good riddance to them.

And that personally annoys me. I can see why they do it though I'm not daft. I want to see the best players all playing in top leagues and not just simply chasing money. And for my own selfish reasoning I want the best league to be the English league becuase that's where my team plays. It's also the most convenient for me to watch.

I enjoy watching football. I'd enjoy it less (in fact I'd stop watching) if I had to watch the Chinese league to see the best players in the world. Aye they don't have that yet and aye it's a selfish reason but I can see what Wright is saying.

Also there's a huge problem with money anyway in the game and China bidding obscene amounts isn't helping it. All it will do is make teams here pay there players more. Which isn't good for a club like us imo.

But you'd just continue to watch the English league?

Why would it matter if the best players started playing in China. The top top players all play in La Liga anyhow.

China need to create a new top top top category

tbh people thought that would happen with the USA and it never did. More attractive location too

They ran out of money pretty sharpish to be fair, and could only afford Danny Dichio

It all depends whether the wedge keeps on coming

I, like you followed Sunderland all over the country in the 70's and 80's and enjoyed those footballing days far better than now. Even the home games at a crumbling Roker Park were more enjoyable than the sanitised premier league. It's all about the wealthy clubs, which naturally in the main are London based.
Edit : The Peter Reid era was good....early days at the SOL
