The Chinese will want to watch it. I don't blame them for one minute it's quite funny watching people furious when the premier league has done exactly this for years.

Players move to the premier league not just for the money though. They come becuase it's the most watched and one of the best leagues in the world. Also for players who come from poorer countries it's a chance to live here It's not the same as players moving to China simply just for the money imo. If it was every player would eventually force a move there.

I went to watch Beijing Goan in 2012, the standard was atrocious back then, I'd imagine it's improved massively since then mind.

42,000 were at that game and China would be a canny enough place to live especially if you're loaded.
My BIL went out to coach one of the Chinese league teams about 5 years ago or so. He stayed in some city that I'd never heard of, but it had a population of about 10m and was lit up like some futuristic neon city. He said it was like another world.

Pelle was still playing well for Southampton. While I 100% agree it depends on the fee, a bid from China is enough to unsettle a player even if it's rejected. They might want to go even if the club doesn't for the obvious reason of earning fortunes.

Southampton got a good fee for Pelle though and I'm never convinced about this whole bid unsettling a player argument.

I hate owt bad happening to us mate, I can't help it!

But you're right.

Well aye that's true but it's still shit that clubs abroad can just come a take any player off you they fancy.
Did it bother you that English clubs picked up the likes of Coleman, McClean, Ward, Holohan, Long, Doyle, Murphy and Forester of Irish clubs for little or nothing and offer them quadruple what they got in Ireland. Or is the outrage just because the Premier League can't compete? Do you think Kone, Ndong and Khazri are here because they dreamt about playing for The Lads and shopping down at Jackie White's?

I bet all those players at some point wanted to play in the premier league aye.

If you were money driven and a Chinese club bid for you and it was rejected you wouldn't be annoyed? Would you not try to force that move? As shitty as it is we've seen far too often players have too much power.

I'd imagine a big problem for the league will be the lack of copyright laws, culturally nobody cares if something is fake and all the merchandise is easy to obtain outside the ground for pennies, this includes black market tickets for the games. I'd imagine the clubs will need to utilise this revenue stream soon enough

I'd agree that players have too much power (it's an situation because they're both employees and assets of the club) but, if a player is money driven, he'd be off somewhere else anyway.

And that personally annoys me. I can see why they do it though I'm not daft. I want to see the best players all playing in top leagues and not just simply chasing money. And for my own selfish reasoning I want the best league to be the English league becuase that's where my team plays. It's also the most convenient for me to watch.

It wouldn't bother us, so yes, I would.

I enjoy watching football. I'd enjoy it less (in fact I'd stop watching) if I had to watch the Chinese league to see the best players in the world. Aye they don't have that yet and aye it's a selfish reason but I can see what Wright is saying.

It wouldn't bother us, so yes, I would.

Also there's a huge problem with money anyway in the game and China bidding obscene amounts isn't helping it. All it will do is make teams here pay there players more. Which isn't good for a club like us imo.

Have a read of a book called Bamboo Goalposts. It's by a English lad who was a football commentator out there for 20yrs or so. First non Chinese TV presenter and producer etc.
He reckons the Chinese will nivver get football right as they hoy money at the top end IE forriners instead of putting it into coaching kids. Also the big European clubs get it wrong anarl when they go over there. Utds Red Cafe franchise things have all closed after losing money hand ower fist.

So the premier league has been running football for years with wages and transfer fees.

So somebody else is throwing the money around and they should stop. What a load of shite. Would be funny to see China burst the bubble.

So many leagues have suffered because of the might of the prem. Championship players are getting bought for double figures now and Celtic for example, haven't got a pot to piss in. Splashing out on 3 million pound players is as much as they can afford.

Did it not hurt when that Arab club took Gyan off us? I was gutted. I hate seeing this type of money turn players
Not a single one of us on here would have turned down the money that was on offer to gyan at the time.
Easy to be righteously indignant from the sidelines or is hypocritical the word I 'm searching for.
Most of us are from working class backgrounds but such backgrounds make us look like spoilt hollywood brats compared to what the likes of gyan are used to.
The usual jumpers for goalposts will huff and puff as usual mind

But that comment is true on any club anywhere bidding for such player though

I've said as much. But it doesn't mean I have to like it.

I can't see football lasting a lifetime over there, it isn't culturally ingrained like it is here, away days is as much about our drinking culture as it is about football.

The Younger Chinese look to the west now to look up to, and I see this as more of a fad.

I'd like to think some players look to test themselves in the best leagues in the world and not just simply go for the money. Otherwise they'd all be playing for Arab and Chinese clubs no?

I'm sure teams like Espanyol, Lille, Wolfsburg etc. have been thinking this about the PL for ages

I just yearn for the end of the sky gravy train , as I'm sure increasing numbers of fans do
This.
Can't wait till they chase the Chinese and throw obscene amounts of money at their league.
Because of my age (early 20s), I've known nothing but Sky/BT/Setanta etc. and despite seeing games I wouldn't have had the chance to otherwise, I really can't wait till it either implodes or they fuck off

I don't think anyone would deny that they'd take that sort of money - you'd be daft not to.
But when you consider they (Gyan as an example) would already be on money in a month that most would struggle to see in 10 years, it's just pure greed
