Random Roker Park memories.

Was there when Speedie & Bennett clashed.
Was there Chelsea 92 & on pitch at full time.
Was there when Davenport scored a raker against Boro to win 2-1.
Was there when John Kay got strechered off whilst doing his canoe impression.
Was there when Anthony Smith was cut in half against Bristol City.
Was there when Brian Atkinson scored from near the halfway line against Bristol City.
Was there when Rangers & Chelsea smashed the town up for Armstrongs Testimonial.

stand out ones for me:

Our first ever Premier League win - Forest Away

Mags 2-1 in the rain

Barnsley Sandstorm

5-0 at Old Trafford - Cantona's chip

To be fair it was mostly pissed up jocks.

I'll see you that lot and raise you a Watford away in 1982:cry:

Good job Chris Turner had a blinder.

The 1st hammering I saw us get was 2-4 at home to Liverpool (a season earlier?).

0-6 would've been a fairer reflection of the game.

Me Da was murder for leaving early. I thought Liverpool beat us 2-0 that day.
Found out I'd missed 4 goals when the footy Echo arrived

Tranmere away - Last game of the season. think it was 95-96. We got promoted and the Mags lost PL to Man U.
Remember a big traffic jam in the Mersey Tunnel with Sunderland fans running up and down.
We stopped for a pint just outside of Leeds on the way back - Fickling came in first with his family then the team bus stopped and the players came in. Good piss up.

Derby 0 Sunderland 5
Derby 1 Poom 1
Sunderland 4 Charlton 4
Man Utd 2 Sunderland 2 (FA Cup, Cantonas last minute bastard equaliser).
Sunderland 2 Newcastle 1 (Ricos freekick)
Sunderland 2 Newcastle 2 (Phillips x 2 and a mate of mine running across the pitch from the East Stand and into the Mags end throwing windmills after the equaliser)
Sunderland Reserves 3 Newcastle Reserves 0 ;)

Aye, sorry it was 5-0, it was 6-0 in the cup about 5 years earlier

I was at both of them

I was at Carlisle away when the Lee Howey song was heard for the first time. In fact it was on a pub in Brampton on the way to the match - I nar the lad who wrote the lyrics ;)

A modern day Lennon if ever there was one.

the last time we won at old trafford.
the day we lost our keeper and as no keepers on the bench, put Calvin Palmer in goal.remember him wiggling his arse at the fulwell end in responce to a chant.
the man city cup game at roker.
the game against QPR when we displayed the cup at the side of the pitch, and someone scored a bulls eye,and knocked it flying.

One of my favourites was Derby away when we won 5-0 in the Reid era. Their fans spent most of pre-match telling us we were in the wrong division. Latterly a few coins and fists were flying across the netting, when we might have implied they were in the wrong division.

beating Leeds 3-0 at Elland rd just after Keane took over.

One of the best atmospheres I've been part of

4-0 down away at Reading in the early 90's. It was raining and we had a shot at goal towards the end of a woefukl performance. Someone in the away end caught the ball, jumped over the stand and into the pelanty area, kicking the ball in the goal. Got the biggest cheer of the day.

Cue a thousand or so fans chanting 4-1 4-1 4-1 etc..
