pavarotti would sound shite singing rock n roll tunes ffs.
axl f***ing rose..... end of thread for me

It doesn't say rock singer, it just said 11th best singer. Is that where you'd place him?

Edit:Sorry mate, thought you were responding to my post mentioning Pavarotti.

It certainly fits the music, I'll give you that.

I can't think of any more apt vocalist than a tone-deaf yobbo to yell over the bland jangly 4-chord pseudo-rock that Oasis played.

you sound like your record collection is full of unknowns who play the radiator with their arse hairs, harp with their teeth and have some upper class tart opera singer.

technically talent, aye.

edge, fun, much about them? like fuck.

thats not my point.

voice suit tunes.

loads of bands singers could sing other band songs. fact.

the fact that some fatty at the opera can knock the higher notes out means little to me.

Axl Rose, like him or not (I don't, btw), at his peak was 10 times the frontman and 10 times the singer Gallagher ever was or could ever hope to be.

And I bet Pavarotti would sound better doing rock and roll than Liam Gallagher would doing opera!

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Not this shite again.

Who gives a fuck, Gallaghers voice sounded fine back in the day, I wouldn't be giving him any awards for it, but it was more or less perfect for what he was doing.

Thats what muso types don't understand, you don't have to have the voice of an angel, if it fits the music and sounds good, thats fine.

I doubt Melvin Glover could compete with Pavarotti in the crooning stakes but I know whose vocals I would rather listen to on 'The Message'

I think some mischievous scamps are trying to re-open an old argument.

Exactly well said son!!! even mister Blobby and Orville the duck had top ten records, Gallaghers voice does what it as to, he's nee Marvin Gray though!!. ;)

Edge? Liam Gallagher?
You mustn't get out much.

Oasis were a good band in the 90's but from there on in they hit a downward curve. They had a good couple of albums (What's The Story (Morning Glory) is one my favourite albums) but maybe over hyped. And people bought into it, me included. They are a decent live band but again over hyped. I wouldn't say the greatest rock of all time but by no means the worst. I'd rather listen to Oasis over The Arctic Monkeys and most of the shit out today.

 I like that.

Back on topic though, do you disagree?

Do you honestly think that Gallagher, with his whiney voice and no training, could sing opera in a more convincing fashion than Pavarotti, with his years and years of proper vocal training, could sing rock and roll?
