I think I might have Obstructive Sleep Apnea

I thought I had it, similar symptoms to you. They just give you a machine to sleep with one night, you take it home as well. Turns out I didn't have it in the end - but the test is very simple.

Aye actually I heard diagnosis can be done at home these days instead of a sleep clinic

From my Googling, if it is OSA then the problem is further back where sorta the tongue tissue meets the back of the throat. I basically need to lose some beef, booze less, exercise more. If that doesn't work, there's a machine with a mask that can be used for positive air pressure or even surgery. Again, that's assuming it is OSA.

Definitely don’t be getting pissed, and take it easy on the sleeping tablets, sedation can make things worse and it increases the chances of, well, to put it bluntly, not waking up. Don’t panic, I’m not trying to be alarmist and it’s very unlikely this will happen, but it’s possible.

Go to your GP ASAP, he should refer you to a specialist who will assess you. I was given a piece of kit to wear overnight to monitor my blood oxygen levels, in some cases instead they’ll just give you a CPAP machine for a few days to see if it improves things.

Don’t mess around, take action now. Panic attacks and sleep loss will wreck you very quickly if you don’t get help, so time’s a factor.

Aye ta mate.

My pal has this. Told by the consultant to stop smoking and shift some timber & he would have a high chance of a natural cure. He didn't take any notice and now sleeps with a mask on & is quite happy to continue to do this. I find it odd that he relys on this contraption to breathe normally rather than trying to help himself.

I find that quite sad really. There are people who have to use ventilators who would be willing to do almost anything to be able to breathe unaided again

I have a friend who suffers. It’s because he’s really fat. That’s the long and short of it, unfortunately.

My friend has this also. Same reason. She doesn't care because it doesn't affect her, as she never wakes up. Her other half has to kip in another room several nights a week though.

I had exactly the same. I used to stop breathing for up to 2 minutes most nights. Turns out I was having panic attacks while dozing off and asleep. Fucked me over for years, and I still have anxiety because of it. Lavender works amazingly well to help me nod off, I'd recommend it

My wife had this for years. She always denied it - took her for a test and the machine helped her a great deal. She was actually stopping breathing so many times a minute. She did not need the machine after a while, quite a while though.

Sounds just like me. I'll give it a try thanks.

What changed so that she didn't need the machine?

Snort-snoring waking me up gasping for air loads of times during the night. It's now starting to give me panic attacks and anxiety over nodding off and suffocating ffs. Totally stupid I know, but unfortunately mind over matter isn't working.
Feels like I have a ball of phlegm stuck behind me adam's apple too.

Ironically, Only time I can sleep is when I'm half cut or take sleeping tablets.

Gonna have to make a Dr's appointment now like. Just wondered if anyone else has it?

Are you fat? And btw RIP, sleep AIDS the worse kind
