You reckon 3 are the best network?? You're having a larf.

They're cheap though, I'll give them that.

Only going on what I have used, orange, vodafone, O2, tmobile and now three.

Three blow the others out of the water for data usage, the others are all restricting usage as their network can't cope, three handles it absolutely fine.....

3 have woeful coverage compared to O2 and Orange. They're about as good as T-Mobile, in other words, shit. My daughter (pics by request, fee applicable, Hoff barred) is on T-Mobile and can just about tolerate them since they allowed users to 'roam' to Orange (but only 2G) when the signal goes, which is most of the time.

So orange and O2 have better 3G coverage than 3?

I couldn't honestly say for sure. 3 are criticised a lot for their coverage though.

I'm on Orange and rarely lose signal, full strength in my house. I was on O2 and the coverage was great. When I had 3, I couldn't even use it in my house, which was a pisser because I wanted to stop using the landline for calls altogether and committed to a partially useless contract.

I have nothing against 3 though, if you live in an area where coverage is good, it's great value for money. When I went past the 3 shop a few weeks back, the sales women were out the front trying to get people in. When they collared me I said I liked their prices but couldn't get a signal in my house. The wry smile on their faces and the nod said it all.

Is it possible to get 3g coverage comparisons of the networks ?
I think an iPhone 5 is iminent ? Maybe worth delaying for a few months ?

I hardly get a signal in my house on any of them to be honest so always just forward phone to landline when I'm at home. Official figure tho show 3 have the best coverage in the UK for 3G so the facts speak for themselves really.

They used t be shocking, especially when switching between 2g and 3G, I.e. Calls dropping. They now only have a 3G network tho and don't need to rent the 2g from O2 or orange so invest all money into improving the 3G network. This also saves your battery as it isn't switching between 2g and 3g, spot on.

They get a lot of bad comments but it's usually from people passing on what the have heard rather than being on the network.

Customer 'service' is definitely hideous but small price to pay IMO!

Yep google ofcom 3G coverage maps, they show the coverage and prove 3 to be the best mate.

I think all the carriers have coverage maps on their websites.

I wouldn't get an iPhone 4 personally, I'd definitely wait for the iPhone 5 to see what it offers if you're only considering Apple.

Fair enough, just speaking from my experience and reading forums etc.

My house still isn't covered indoors according to their map though. The only other service that is remotely iffy here is T-Mobile.

O2's 3G network is rank. I didn't realise how bad til I got a 3 sim for me iPad. 3 costs me a fiver a month for a gig which is plenty.

3g cross-network roaming between orange/t-mobile is imminent.

Is there not mate......................?

The bloke sorted it hasnt worked there for years...........

I'd add it for you but I've just been transferred to Orange.

At the moment I don't know whether I'm eligible for Orange or T-mobile staff benefits (or both?).

iphone 5 is not imminent.

It is likely to be a 4g device (to keep up with current market trends such as HTC Evo is US), this is not yet supported in the UK. With this in mind, a new iphone can't really be a better data handset than the iphone 4 anyway.

No-one truly knows what apple will do next but I'd expect a press release about the impending iphone 4 'white'.

i changed from 3 to o2 nearly 2 years ago as i wanted an i phone and they were the only ones doing it at the time. WORST desicion i ever made ! o2 are an absolute disgrace  their coverage is shocking, and try and get 3g anywhere.... forget it !
my contract is up in 8 weeks or so and i'm going to go on a pay as you go on 3 until the i phone 5 is out then change to 3 full time
i cant wait to get shot of o2 and will be paying 2 bills at the same time
terrible signal in my house and hardly any 3g coverage makes me an unhappy chappie. when at work the lads on orange, vodafone and 3 get 3g pretty much everywhere....poor little me is stuck with a crap 2g signal which knocks hell out of my battery life and is slower than the old dial up
how ANYONE can say o2 are good is beyond me !

If the latest batch of rumours are true the iPhone 5 will be like what the 3GS was to the 3G, a few extra bits and pieces (dual core cpu, more ram, better camera) just to build on the success of the iPhone 4. With an ETA of the end of this year. It will not be 4G, that wont come until the next model cos as you say no point for most of the world..

The iPhone 4 white is due any day now, three had their pages updated to buy it for delivery on 20th April, but it's since been pulled so either they don't really have any plans for stock or it quickly ran out, or they just had a mare?

Ooh, that is good news, especially for T-Mobile customers.

Maybe not tho cos Orange's 3g network is a bit pants aint it? The lads here in the office struggle to use it at all during peak hours, so if they then take away resource from T-mobile's 3g network (which is faster imo) then they may just spread out the crap?

O2 used to be one of, if not the best, but they simply did not have the infrastructure in place to fully support the new wave of smart phones (iphone) so their network suffered badly. They still charge people £45/month for a device which they cant even support, amazes me!!

Sleepy;981 O2 used to be one of said:
which is why i think i'll go back to 3, they only ever put in 3g masts so if you get a signal its always 3g (untill they started piggybacking) they have stopped the piggybacking and are trying to improve their own coverage and its purely 3g.i was with them for 3 year and tbh was over the moon with their coverage, cant remember thinking 'bastard no signal' which i do all over now on o2
as soon as i walk in a bulding the call drops out. ive never had a worse signal tbh
yes 3's call centres are terrible, but when i left them the indian guy i spoke to was exellent in english speaking, and at the end of the call he asked me how good his english was for the evaluation process, so it sounds like they knew they had a problem and were trying to rectify it. it used to be terrible, and in all truth we couldn't understand each other meaning your problem never got sorted out
