You only need to do half decent and you can ride the gravy train for a while, just look at Lee Johnson he hasn't really been a success anywhere and he's still in management.

Mourinho has it to a fine art mind, do well for the first couple of seasons and then do shit and fall out with the players so you get sacked.

It’s not just football mate, or in fact just sport. It works for roles like General Manager, CEO, and COO outside of sport. Most people who get to that level are good at talking up their abilities, and identifying why their failures were caused by others or the processes put in place by others.
