I like Phil Bardsley

He is a solid player and a better player than most give him credit for. Imo he is going to play a big role in keeping us up with his experience and ability to play lb and rb.

Thought the boos yesterday when he came off were not deserved, not after the shift and passion he put into yesterdays game. Those who did boo you are not helping the team in any way what so ever.

Fair play on Sunday, when he was at his best, he was almost as good as Celutska is when he puts in a middling perfromance

Celustka is (just about) better than Bardsley, who has become more and more of a liability throughout his time here, one decent game on Sunday doesn't change that.

What games are you referring to where Bardsley has been a liability?

I'm not saying there hasn't been any (Swansea, obviously), but my impression of his has always been that he's solid but unspectacular.[DOUBLEPOST=1383139186][/DOUBLEPOST]

Celutska has been 1/4th of the league's worst defence, let's not forget. For all our faults over the years, we've usually been stingy at the back, and Bardsley has played his part there.

The 2 games with Villa last season, the 5-1 against the Mags (hardly the only culprit that day TBF), the 2-0 defeat to Blackpool, 5-0 defeat at Man City, 3-1 defeat at home to Wolves are the examples that immediately come to mind, there have been plenty more.

Is it not the case though that you could find as many (if not more) examples from most of our other players? John O'Shea, for example.

I don't think Bardsley is any worse than 90% of our squad, personally.

Never really understood the back lash against Bardsley. He isnt Roberto Carlos, but he was never billed as such. However he almost always puts a shift in & has done so for a number of years for us.

Have you missed the bit where he took the piss after we lost a game?...

He also might try really hard when he's on the pitch, but his defending has cost us plenty of goals and he contributes very little going forward - his "style" of passing costs us all of the time.

It's amazing what a few fist pumps and looking "hard" can get Sunderland fans to overlook

Before the start of the season he was a C**t, the day the season started , he was a bigger C**t. After Sunday , he's still a ****!

I know he did that. However I also know things were very weird all round with PDC in charge & under whom all that occured. Yes, he isnt the greatest RB in the league, but he isnt the worst by a long way.

I liked him. I'm in a period of disliking him. However, he had a bit tiff with Ben Arfa and was part of a team that beat the mags, so being a fickle football supporter, I will probably like him again soon.

I also like a player who openly took the poss out of us.

Oh, no, I don't....cos that would be mental wouldn't it.

He's on a very long road to earning our respect back.

Because he felt he was unfairly treated. Transpires almost everyone felt they were unfairly treated. Suggests they probably were.

That still doesn't excuse laughing at us losing for fucks sake

If he felt he was so wronged, why didn't he take a drop in his (huge) wage and move somewhere else? No, not Phil, he'd rather rot in the reserves and take the piss when the team he is contracted to loses...

Support him if you wish. I assume he'll be gone soon enough anyway, thankfully.
