I just don't get this vitriol toward Coleman...

Maybe not but either they didn’t like each other, he couldn’t persuade him/ have the pull for him to stay. To compound that he has replaced him with Fletcher who was unlucky in hitting the post today but other than that should have scored at least 2. No striker no goalie, camp really looked like a dwarf from where I was sat
I don’t disagree that replacements haven’t been great. But, we don’t know what options he was given.
And, I still say Grabban wanted to be away, regardless

No its not at all. Fergie was one of the greatest managers of all time, Warnock is a decent championship manager who it is not unreasonable to think we could attract.

Apart from that, yeah ,it's exactly like that. Clown
You're the clown. Talking about managers who wouldn't have come here

Absolute cloth heed.

Question for those people who give managers a few weeks

If it would cost us all our summer budget to get rid of Coleman and appoint a new manager would you do it?
Our summer budget will probably be £0 , so it's a bit of a moot point.

FFS he could have gone anywhere. He had zero to spend in the transfer window and it really looks like the players are actually responding in the last 4 or 5 games. Next season in league one he is exactly the kind of manager we need...a "big" name and a motivator. The players we will have next season (minus the big ego twats who will go, thank fuck) will hopefully respond to someone who has actually played and managed at a level way above League 1. Get behind him.....I can't believe I'm posting this as I'm normally a right miserable twat.

Spot on.

Some folk are just so angry at the situation they're lashing out in all directions without engaging their brain first.

Out of all the managers we've had in my lifetime, he's the one that has given me the most confidence through hearing him talk. He's clearly a very intelligent, passionate bloke who appears to truly want to be here.

Long may it continue as far as I'm concerned. I really believe he'll come good in the long run.

1. He may have come here, especially in the summer.

2. I'd he had, we wouldn't be going down.

You mustn't hold safc in very high regard if you think we couldn't have attracted the ex Rotherham manager. At least I'd we had tried we'd know those in charge of the club know what to look for in a manager.

He brought Camp in and should be sacked for that catastrophic error of judgement.

Most sensible post Ive read on here in ages!
It's not sensible at all, he could have 'gone anywhere' really, anywhere aye? There's a reason he's heading to League One with us, he's a poor club manager who got fortunate with Wales.

There is no vitrol at all either, he's just piss poor and is entitled to criticism. He could have at least kept us in the division and he's failed miserably.

It’s hard to defend Coleman tactically but I think we really need to go into a new season with some continuity. Don’t think this has happened since the summer after the league cup final.

Also, if we get bought out early in the summer there’s a chance the better players in the squad might stay. Be nice if the manager in that instance has an idea of where we need to strengthen.

If shorts still here in July/August then anyone of any value will be sold as he tries to claw back every penny he feels he’s owed. I dread to think what our team will look like if that happens.
McNair looked really good today, even with his injury record someone will come in for him, he will play in the premier league again if he can keep fit.

Asoro and maja are young and raw but will probably make it at least in the championship.

Love played a superb ball through to fletcher today, looked ok but he needs to improve a lot with letting crosses into the box. Not sure about him.

Honeyman, poor first touch, weak, huffs and puffs, 3rd division player.

Cattermole, played alright today but his legs have gone, can’t get there like he used to when closing down and it has killed his game. Not his fault his legs have gone through injury though.

I think the rest will be gone anyway so it doesn’t matter about them

hard to argue he has done a good job but any criticism should be seriously mitigated

He deserves a summer, ideally with more to spend than two penny chews and an expired old tenner.

Even a summer where he doesn't have anything to spend means at least you have the opportunity to sign players out of contract and there's plenty of them. In January with no funds you've got no f***ing chance.

Had he waited a bit longer he'd have been a serious contender for Stoke, Swansea and West Brom

yes it is the point. You can't list managers who'd do a better job than Coleman if we couldn't attract them.

are people forgetting how utterly depressing the list of potential managers were? Word gets around. No-one wanted to work with our board. Pulis, Warnock, Guardiola or Klopp. Makes no difference. No-one wanted to manage Sunderland.

Has he done any better than Grayson...apart from with the media?

I don’t actually know the answer to that but I’m assuming not really given where we are.

I’m also not saying we shouldn’t have gotten rid of Grayson and appointed Coleman, and we may as well stick with him as well given our plight. But he certainly hasn’t pulled up any trees, as he admits himself as well. Mitigating circumstances for sure but, tactically, has left a lot to be desired. Particularly defensively. Given the fact that him and Kit Symons were defenders, and the fact we have some experienced defenders, and it’s a shite league, I’d have hoped for more. E.g, being able to defend set pieces etc.

I still think he has been out of the market too long, I was expecting him to get in some cheap foreigners that he might have faced while on wales duty. Some gem no one has heard of from Slovakia or something alike. He has been poor in the transfer market, that mcburnie has 1 in 2 for Barnsley, we were linked with him, a striker like that would have made all the difference for us.

1. He didn’t come here
2. If he had, you’d be screaming that he was never the man for the job

Agree with 1.

If 2. Happened then yes, if he took us down I would, but warnock's CV suggests he would have kept us up. Nothing in Coleman's CV suggests that.
