More of a loose cannon than Keane?
More detached from the reality of the modern game than MON?
More full of dreary excuses than Bruce?

FFS, these people who just can't wait for PDC to blow up and have a meltdown

I was pleased with all 3 of those appointments n'arl. What the fuck do i know eh?

what are you wittering on about old bean? I have concerns regarding Paolo, I don't want him to fail.

Fuck sake

I was pleased with Keane as we needed a 'character' to give us a shot in the arm.
I was pleased with Bruce after what he'd done at Wigan.
I was pleased with MON as he didn't realise he was senile.

I'm really pleased with Di Canio though ........ if someone with his dedication, passion and courage can't shock this dopey club into life then we're fucked.

For the first time we have a manager who can match the fans in their enthusiasm.

It just seems that some people are trotting out this 'loose cannon', deranged, mentally unstable stuff without thinking ...... apologies if you're not one of them.

Your post wasn't too explanatory tbh ;)

He is passionate beyond belief and that's commendable and endearing to fans however i fear it'll cause friction with over paid players with over inflated egos. I hope he can handle them.

I don't mind overpaid players with egos so long as they have the talent and perform on the pitch. None of our lot fall into this category so it will do them good to get some reality back in their professional careers. If they don't then they will be out of our great club.

The proof is in the pudding marra! I know, I'm so profound it's untrue!

I like PDCs mentality, to many managers we have had pic a team just go go out to not get beat. about time we went out to win whether we have the team to do that is another story.

Altho Paolo is obviously a risk , Ellis is mitigating that risk with the other managerial level signings. It seems that Ellis is betting that you can cobble together a decent premiership squad largely from castoffs / disappointments / youngsters by tapping in to some in-depth Serie A experience. If it does turn out that Paolo can't hack it ( 50-50 I'd say ) then Paolo's replacement should at least be left a decent sized squad to work with...

He's right. Pedantic as it maybe. It's just another in a long line of false dawns. You'd have thought that after so many, you'd all be programmed not to get your hopes up!

TBH I can't see the point of that ...... if you don't have any belief then going to the match is a bit pointless. We can't win the league but we can have some great derby wins, some entertaining football and a cup final.

If the likes of Portsmouth, Swansea and Wigan can do it then there's absolutely no logical reason we can't. IMO if you have no hope then you're hopeless ;)

We will look back at this moment in years to come as a turning point for the club.

Normally I am pessimistic about SAFC, have been in general since Wembley in 1998  bar the odd short spell, but I just get the feeling this time it might be different and that Short after a few years on the sidelines observing and learning is about to put a successful stamp on the club. Hell he has been successful in everything else he has done and he is a natural winner.

It may all go tits up but for some reason tonight, for the first time in ages, I am genuinely enthusiastic about the future.

If you acknowledge it could go tits up then how can you be so enthusiastic. It is too early to say what will happen. We don't know anything of how good or bad these two new guys are. Le them get a season under their belt first before talking about how good or bad they are.

Says the man ( I use the term sparingly ) who gave us this to demonstrate his knowledge of football, when we signed SAHA

Good post mate. It feels more than slightly surreal just now. If we'd stuck with MON then we'd no doubt have signed Wayne Bridge, Richard Dunne, Kevin Davies etc etc. Now we're looking to sign players who I have never heard of but who seem to be canny players.

One thing PDC has done is reignite the relationship between the supporters and the team/club which seemed to be headed for the "I support the Lads through thick and thin so no matter what happens I'll still be here" feeling which is where I had got to. I'd never give up my season ticket but did think that it may have been for championship football.

I think Di Canio is a passionate manager and appreciates the passion we have for the club. All of this recent shenanigans simply shows that he expects the players to show the same passion and commitment that the owner, the manager and coaches and the supporters show.

I'm genuinely excited by the prospect of the new season. The press queued up to slag Di Canio off when he was appointed. They'll be falling over themselves to have us as a dark horse.

Let's hope one day, a canny few years hence, there's a statue outside the ground of Paolo's knee slide...

Agree with this, we've tried every kind of approach and it's been shite on the whole.
Di Canio gives us a totally different option.

Thank heavens it's not just another Hughes/Pulis/Pardew 'solution'

Exactly. It's like a breath of fresh air shifting all the cobwebs.

Would love all these new players to come off. But as I haven't seen any of them play or even heard of them, I shall be nervously hoping for a pleasant surprise(as with Marco and superkev) rather than the more usual realisation that despite all the optimistic noises we have again signed a pile of shit(laslandes, nunez, flo, etc).
Hoping for the best, trying not to fear the worst...........

I don't have s sneaky feeling, more absolutely confident that the calibre of changes to the club will make a significant difference...this is strangely very unlike Sunderland

2 completely different cases - Johnson is a very good player who under performed partly because of the rubbish he was surrounded by and how deep he was receiving the ball and how much chasing about he had to do.

Graham is garbage, full stop.

i believe AJ will be a key player for us next season

Danny Graham has mastered the art of appearing to bust a gut when he has little or no chance of getting the ball . His biggest contribution to SAFC was that chance he missed for Swansea . AJ is a different player once he gets the ball 30 yards up the field where he is one on one with a defender . I agree we will see the best of him next season . Can we have an overlapping full back to play with him please ?
