We will look back at this moment in years to come as a turning point for the club.

Normally I am pessimistic about SAFC, have been in general since Wembley in 1998  bar the odd short spell, but I just get the feeling this time it might be different and that Short after a few years on the sidelines observing and learning is about to put a successful stamp on the club. Hell he has been successful in everything else he has done and he is a natural winner.

It may all go tits up but for some reason tonight, for the first time in ages, I am genuinely enthusiastic about the future.

very much this!:-D

You can't fault Ellis Short.

I also think the new direction he is taking the club in is very positive.

I worry about the manager, loose cannon.

Is he hell like .... he is more normal than the politically corrected idiots who think they have to think, do and say what some numb nuts looney lefty has thought up in some smelly office somewhere.

I think it's a direction we had no other choice in heading towards. The club has gone from one disaster to the next for years now. Thing is I don't think PDC is as mental as we might think, he has a lot to learn obviously, especially regarding what he tells the media but I really believe he is the forward thinking coach MON should of been and I do believe he will do very well here.

since weeding out the former amateur chairman, mr short seems to be bringing his business acumen to bear imo. hope it works out for the best mate

All the ingredients of a top manager are there in PDC. Passionate and motivating, tactically he is apparently top notch, wants to instil a top work ethic, fitness and proffessionalism. He just needs to control it.

Now he has a renowned scout to give him the tools in terms of players.

It may still all go tits up, but I really believe that it won't.

Longest run in the top league in most fans' living memory. Expectations have been dashed time and again over the past few years alright but hardly lurching from disaster to disaster. Wolves is disaster to disaster, Blackburn, Portsmouth.....

Exactly this. Can't wait for next season now , really think this whole new direction the club is taking will pay dividends.

We have been very lucky, each manager ends with us requiring a major overhaul of our squad and our infrastructure has always been piss poor. For some reason when we do get relegated we seem to find it within ourselves to get promoted quite easily, but been in the premier league for this long, although it keeps the bank manager happy, lets be frank we have been f***ing shit. So you are right, we are not like Portsmouth, but it hasn't been for the want of trying.
