Hydrating at work

We’ve just been told that drinks are banned anywhere in the building except in the canteen. So the lads working machines all day now have to leave their station and go across the road for a sip of water, even in the middle of summer. Is this normal in factories?
We are allowed water on line but no other drinks. A rule which is ignored by most. Been the same at every other factory I've worked at.

Drinking water

22.—(1) An adequate supply of wholesome drinking water shall be provided for all persons at work in the workplace.

(2) Every supply of drinking water required by paragraph (1) shall—

(a)be readily accessible at suitable places; and

(b)be conspicuously marked by an appropriate sign where necessary for reasons of health or safety.

(3) Where a supply of drinking water is required by paragraph (1), there shall also be provided a sufficient number of suitable cups or other drinking vessels unless the supply of drinking water is in a jet from which persons can drink easily.

All this hydration is tripe. I went the first 30 years of my life without drinking a drop of water.

These days every feeble soul can’t walk from Next to Chelsea Girl without rehydrating.

Having a drink while playing football was damn right dangerous and would give you cramp.

Could be risk to equipment from spills or to staff if there are other nasty liquids in containers lying around. We had this at a previous company I worked at so we gave all staff a company lidded transparent water bottle

We got an NCR from a client inspector as a subbie had an open can of coke on the shop floor. The rationale was it could be a liquid subject to COSHH regulations and we can’t readily prove that it is coke in the (just opened) can.

So yes, it appears it is moving in this direction.

Two lads have been at ours today doing some jobs - didn’t want tea or coffee just got on with it and did a cracking job.

Mind they were both mags. Maybe they were still full of champagne!

No it’s not, what is the reason?

We drank milk before Thatcher the Milk Snatcher took it off us and we all got rickets .

I can remember drinking water from the tap when I was in the infants.
However there was always jugs of water and glasses on the tables at dinner time.

In our school the salt cellar went straight in that as soon as the first person sat down.

That was until Big Bob arrived and hoyed some Andrews Liver Salts in too.

Water……… it was more dangerous than drinking water from Chernobyl
