I like Denver Hume. He's raw granted but there's pace and energy and a willingness to get forward and I'm sure positional awareness and tactical nous can be coached into him.

He's nowhere near ready to play regularly at full-back. He should be used now and again as a squad player - too much pressure will harm his development.

I don't think he's a terrible player just not ready for it yet. I hope we sign another player.

Can only remember Hume playing 1 U23 game last year and it was when we got pasted by the Mags like so fair. Obviously Ross seen his development in training though for whatever that’s worth.

Wish you’d stop with this Flanagan is a Lb and a RB stuff. For the system we are playing he’s clearly not a viable option and he can’t even kick the ball with his left foot.

He’s a player that can play in those positions if asked but he shouldn’t because his game isn’t good enough to play there!!

McLaughlin looked really uncomfortable at left back.

Why bring a specialised RB to play him at LB to then play a centre mid at right back. They’re in the position where they need to bring in a LB for Saturday or just play Hume there seeing as they got rid of the other LBs to play Hume. If he’s shite, which he looks it, then so be it, they’ve fucked up, needs more than 2 games though. Won’t get better on the bench
I just don’t think he’s good enough, and as a 1 off I would have o’nien and McLaughlin at full backs. Hopefully a left back in by game after.

Yeah it’s an interesting one. Biggest game of his career live on sky go out and prove yourself. Or look shite on sky and if you play as bad as you did at Ipswich prepare to be absolutely shredded by the pundits.

I don’t think he has the mentality to play for us just yet but just can’t legislate for playing people out of position when we’ve backed ourself into the corners. Just need to get on with it and show what we have. Hume included

nowt to do with being local. Young kid thrown under the bus by the manager shouldn't be taking flak. The comments on this thread mirror the attitudes of the supporters in the ground (which you denied).
Everyone is going to moan a bit if you play as bad as he did against Oxford but nothing loud enough for him to notice probably you can't say thrown under a bus he was making basic errors like poor 5 yard passes or crossing the ball straight out of play
The manager has treated this lad appallingly.

Asking a young player to both defend and be the main point of attack whilst allowing the senior pros in the team not to give him any support whatsoever.

Way too simplistic to put all the blame on Hume.

I havent a clue whats going on with Ross's formations and tactics but I do know its pitiful and painful to watch. God help the players.

he was a left back and right back according to nigel clough..a manager who,...with fkanagn in his team..won promotion from this league..a manager who wouldnt even conside r flanagn for CB by the end..flanagan isnt a wing back..thats not the question asked..but he is a full back..thats his positon..everyone knows this excoet jack ross and a few oif his acolytes..
Fancy going into the season with one unproven f***ing left back in the squad.
we arent..we have a proven one and we have denver hume..flanagn has played more games at left back than hume as a professional footballer.

True but when you watch him play he’s not a fit for those positions so he’s not a viable option. Shouldn’t be suggested that he is.

He's got no left foot though, as seen in his couple of appearances left of a three man centre back combination.
