Feel sorry for the lad. Only young and has been left exposed both with lack of replacements for James/Oviedo and on the pitch with the formation and Flanagan. Unless injured should have been straight in at left back in a 4-4-2. A decent centre back alongside him would help and fans need to back young kids coming through the ranks, not get on their backs. Just a shitty cup game anyway.
People don't get on his back at the game

Oviedo was always going to leave but I can't see the point in selling James without getting a replacement. James wasn't the best but Hume is untested and seems injury prone, relying on just him alone is madness.

we arent...flanagan is a left back..as well as a right back..the one positon he isnt is a centre vback...which our genius manager has decided is his position..

No big deal given we'd probably rest a few but who plays left side in his absence if it extends to the weekend? McGeouch also out.

I'd be tempted to give O'Nien a run out at LB personally.
Another player made of sugar glass not good enough for the first team

As I said in an earlier post only two outfield players started more than 30 games in the league last season. One has left the club and the other is no longer first choice.

Hackett potentially but not a natural there. Bainbridge a centre back. Jacob Young played there last year but he left for hoffenhiem. Hunter did first part of season but really struggled as he’s naturally a RB.

Probably be McLaughlin or Gooch thinking about it.
Hume struggled at left back in the under23s aswell didn’t stop them calling him up to the seniors

I'll take your word for it but I'd have to wonder how well he can play there with a left foot, so far as I have seen, that is only for show.

Can only remember Hume playing 1 U23 game last year and it was when we got pasted by the Mags like so fair. Obviously Ross seen his development in training though for whatever that’s worth.

Wish you’d stop with this Flanagan is a Lb and a RB stuff. For the system we are playing he’s clearly not a viable option and he can’t even kick the ball with his left foot.

He’s a player that can play in those positions if asked but he shouldn’t because his game isn’t good enough to play there!!
Just play Mclaughlin LB and O'Nien RB, that would be what i would be playing on Saturday anyway.

McLaughlin looked really uncomfortable at left back.

Why bring a specialised RB to play him at LB to then play a centre mid at right back. They’re in the position where they need to bring in a LB for Saturday or just play Hume there seeing as they got rid of the other LBs to play Hume. If he’s shite, which he looks it, then so be it, they’ve fucked up, needs more than 2 games though. Won’t get better on the bench

Saved us enough to buy a couple more 3rd division players
😀
According to many on here it was great news when Oviedo went.

McGeouch out injured, or rested?

Think that O'Nien will play rb and McLaughlin will be shoehorned into lb.
So after 2 games we're having to play half of our back 4 out of position and 1 of the other 2 is Flanagan, breathtaking incompetence from our recruitment team ! FTM

God knows what Ross will decide upon. Might end up, as suggested by others, with Flanagan at lb. Whether or not that means McLaughlin would actually get a chance at his preferred rb and O'Nien likewise in midfield is anyone's guess.

not a chance, he either change formation to 4 at the back, and have flanagan left back

or

stick with his formation and put gooch left wing back and onein right wing back

Not a chance, even though that’s exactly what he did at half time at Ipswich? Think that suggests it’s the most likely course of action. That or some kid from the U23s
