Hume Being Watched By Burnley Apparently

Hume has regressed massively this season. I felt that he was our most consistent full back last season but he's not hitting those heights anymore.

It's hard to know if last season was a purple patch, but I think it's more likely that being asked to be so flexible is affecting his performance. I think he's played as RB, CB and LB whilst here, as well as being a full back that moves into DM and sometimes a full back that makes a back three.

The lad is 21 and needs 50 games in a settled position at this level doing the same things week in, week out.
No he hasn’t at all!

I’m not saying the coach isn’t to blame however as a full back you need to be making up yards with the ball which will automatically push your winger higher up the pitch roberts is having to dribble past people all the way from the right back position , humes getting the ball and just passing it 5 yards and square to a centre back the modern full back should be making up the most yards on the pitch
Humes doing what he’s being instructed to do, it isn’t hard to understand.

Hence the roaming role people can’t get their heads around
I don’t think it’s working tbh. I’d rather see him tried as a specialist DMC, not a hybrid role.

Off the ball, I think when we lose it and get countered (which we do a lot) it leaves the RB position unprotected.

On the ball, it leaves Roberts without outside support hitch hinders his effectiveness imo

Not sure any benefits outweigh those two things

Who’s playing RB/LB in the event he plays CDM?

I’m not getting into oh no he never argument I have eyes he needs taking out of the team Huggins and cirkin will be first choice imo as they can carry the ball pace

He’s nowhere near good enough on the ball to play cdm man
You already are in that type of argument. You clearly haven’t watched him much with those eyes based on your opinions.

This inverted full back shite isn’t working. Think he massively benefitted from having Amad and Roberts absolutely tearing up the right hand side last season.

How’s it “not working” out of interest. What would “working” look like

Don't think he's regressed but he hasn't been as consistent. Mind, he gets switched between the left and the right side, is often asked to play the 'inverted' role, and has had to cover his winger defensively at the same time. In his second season at this level.

Last year we had Danny Batth at c.h. ,this year it's O'Nien. I'm sure you'll figure it out !
