Humble pie on the menu?

For the Maja detractors probably, not so much Catts. I like him, he was utterly shit last season though so has some making up to do. About forty games worth!

Still only 19 mate.
With regards to Maja I meant plenty wrote him off and should eat some humble pie. Not the same for Catts, one decent match does not repair the damage done last season when he was very poor. He's experienced and should have been at least competent last season. Maja was just breaking through and had few opportunities yet people had decided he was non league standard!

He had another good game but not outstanding, having players around him willing to do the hard graft really helps...

I think, as always, it comes down to using players in positions that suit them. Imo sitting in front of the defence has always been his best position but having Power alongside him worked very well with either able to move forward at will. I don’t agree about the graft though...I thought he got through a lot of work while remaining disciplined.

I'm happy to have him in the team if he's performing well. If he plays like he did in the last 2 seasons I wouldn't even have him in the squad. Much improved the last 2 games.

Cattermole has played well, be interesting to see what happens when McGeouch is fully fit because he is supposed to be able to break up play and have a range of passing that Cattermole doesn't, add that Max Power is now one of the first names on the team sheet (for me) and Cattermole becomes one hell of an expensive sub.

Lots of games could should mean plenty of rotation tho if he stays but I'd be more worried about losing Oviedo than Catts.

My point was that many people suggested he was MOTM suggest he was quite a lot more than just ok. You appear someobe unwilling to give due praise. He also was better than just ok against Sheff Wed.

He's one of the highest earners at the Club and hasn't done anything positively for them in the last few years, why does does he deserve praise for playing ok in one game, against very poor opposition in League 1?

Not a Catts fan here, but have to admit he was very good on Sunday. IMO, he's probably playing for a loan deal to a club in a higher league. I hope he get's it. Good for both parties.

Cattermole was OK on Sunday, not superb. He made some good challenges but also gave the ball away in potentially dangerous situations. Having younger legs around helped. In this league he should be the best midfielder on the pitch in most games if he's got a footballing brain and isn't too radgie. I can understand him not wanting the armband when Honeyman went off but he should've told him to give it to someone else, or passed it to Loovens NOT chucked it on the ground/in his direction.
But, it's a team game and the team were good in the 1st half and did enough in the 2nd to create a couple of good chances.
Anyone taking Cattermole will try to take the piss with fee, if buying, or wages if loaning.

A fellow poster said that it would be hypocritical to slate Cattermole for being here when Rodwell was castigated for not wanting to play. Not saying people should apologise because he will know how poor he's been recently. But at least he has always made himself available to the manager. Great start to the season but being a Sunderland fan has taught me to exercise a bit more caution in my expectations ;)
