9 rb's in 4 years and still we dont have a decent one.

How much wages and signing on/loan fees are in that little lot?

Total false economy.

You said we signed 3 right backs in one season. I'm asking when not a collection of the chasing our tail because of our finances I already mentioned.

Furthermore the figure of 10m pounds you mentioned was completely made up. You had no idea.

Up until Christmas I think he was our best player. Not having his usual winter break played havoc with him. He was still very solid after the new year though. The midfield oh M'Vila/Kirchhoff/Cattermole worked very well and they each complemented each other. Oh what we would give for that midfield now!

As likely as not it was the midfield Moyes expected to field. Agreement in place for M'Vila left him only looking to cover for Jan. He'll probably be as pissed as anyone about Short's change of direction. You have to wonder why this happened so quickly, I wonder if he believed he had sealed a deal to offload us.

14/15 or 15/16.

From those 9 rb's the outlay was 4 million i would bet my life with wages, signing on fees and loan fees that 4million is well over 10 million.

Lb is the same we only have 1 but add in alonso, rose, dossena, pva and that 2 million fee is multiplied and gone on nothing.

14/15 we signed Jones on a free probably as cover. Then paid about 2.5m for vergini (initially as a loan to get around his ownership issues). Vergini certainly wasn't seen as being on the cheap as he'd impressed most people the season previous.

Rev the came in when Vergini and Jones suffered decent length injuries. Purely as he was out of contract and thus available. Should we not have bothered?

And the following season We then made a loan signing when some players went out on loan after signing matthews and wssting money. Clearly you're classing eboue as some kind of investment when he wasn't at all.

What you are missing, again, is exactly what I said in my earlier post about financially forever chasing our tails. And you're also ignoring loan fees and the fact Matthews cost more.

Heres a little list off the top of my head on players we have pissed money away on loans/short term/freebie deals that have brought us no benefit financially but have added to shorts false economy-

Mangane
Saha
Rose
Ustari
Mcfadden
Bridge
Kyrgiakos
Yedlin
Dossena
Roberge
Diakite
Cabral
Celustka
Alonso
gomez
Alvarez
Vergini (loan)
Coates(loan)
Rev
N'doye
Toivonen
Mvilla
Pienaar
Anichebe
Lescott
Manquillo
Denayer

27 players there in 5 years so averaging over 5 a season.
Scandalous and down to ellis and his short term thinking.

Apparantely hes got a 11m release clause in his contract

No by waiting they looked like idiots. Turning down the chance to have a class midfielder for the first half of a season, for 7million, is inexcusable to me.

And to then spunk double that on an unproven kid who may be good in 2 years time was idiotic.

I cant see how they could be praised even of he signed on a free on Jan 1st with us nailed on for relegation. You need to start the season as strong as possible in my opinion.

We would have signed him for 10million on June 1st if i was in charge. If it went tits up we could sell him for the same amount based on his proven ability. With Ndong we will end up with next to nothing.
That's exactly my point for fucks sake man

Spot on, remember he didn't have a pre season either, played in one reserve game and then was straight in the first team

Short didnt pick the players m8

We needed numbers though, that was the issue. It was highlighted many times he loads on here

I could go through it at length.....the contribution of each player signed but suffice to say that we've had very little return from almost every signing so the "getting numbers in" argument is a spurious one. We've signed injury prone players and seem surprised when they get injured....we've signed players who couldn't cut the mustard for reasons of age or lack of quality at their previous clubs and seem surprised when they don't magically improve at a relegation club.
