Its makes you wonder how/why we didnt dominate when coming down from the Championship with the likes of McGeady, Catrermole and Oviedo in the team, "the biggest budget the league had ever seen" and 30k+ crowds every home game.
How did manage to waste that opportunity man?
There has been bigger. Manchester City and Leeds spring immediately to mind, but if this continues another season, yes, Sunderland will be a case study for fallen giants. Its makes you wonder how/why we didnt dominate when coming down from the Championship with the likes of McGeady, Catrermole and Oviedo in the team, "the biggest budget the league had ever seen" and 30k+ crowds every home game.

I remember Wolves in the 4th tier mind a few seasons after being in the top flight.
Precisely, not a Parky apologist but the points per game of 2 through 9 is similar. Two wins for Sunderland would be back on track for automatic promotion. It’s that close. To listen to some on here you would think the league has gone. They’ve lost more games than we have.
YesBigger what? Clubs at this level?
Difficult to keep track of who are making a run for play off positions. Blackpool were previously and are closer to the bottom three compared to the play offs.Doncaster and Accrington winning are the stand out results tonight. Those two and Fleetwood are making a run at the play off positions. 2-3 weeks ago they weren’t.

Yes
The fixtures are also OK after Friday until mid January. If we can avoid defeat at Highbury then the outlook may not be bad. We are turgid and awful but so were Bolton when he got them up.Precisely, not a Parky apologist but the points per game of 2 through 9 is similar. Yes
Typically anything around 1.8 points per game will suffice.Difficult to keep track of who are making a run for play off positions. Blackpool were previously and are closer to the bottom three compared to the play offs.

Ipswich have been bloody lucky tho with a few of those home wins mate
I’ve bookmarked this bollocks
Everything is debatable but there would be few who would argue Sunderland’s fall was larger than City and Leeds. Both would be considered larger clubs by most independent people.Very debatable
Of course, but they had been a huge club in living memory, certainly late 60’s and early 70’s.Man City bounced straight back. Mind, they weren't the Man City of today, they were a club much more like SAFC.
On core fan base they’re nowhere near as big as Sunderland in my bookEverything is debatable but there would be few who would argue Sunderland’s fall was larger than City and Leeds. Both would be considered larger clubs by most independent people.
