How Rich Are We Now?

Any half decent manager should be able to get us out of this league with a couple of decent signings and without spending much. If we are then looking to get back in prem our manager will then have to either work a miracle or we will need to spend to try and get us back quickly. Spending doesn’t guarantee you a good side but if it’s spent well is a massive help. It’s about having the right balance of bringing players through the academy and mixing them with good signings. Will be interesting to see exact share split but I feel quite optimistic now the new owner has majority of shares. Personally i think it’s now a case of wait and see how good lee Johnson is.

Norwich didn't spend loads to get into the premiership mind Fulham spent £100 million the season they went down you need some where in the middle

Any money should be focused on improving the infrastructure our atleast bringing it back to where it have been

I think Brighton are also doing things right too
Very true. Don't think Palace have huges amounts to through around either and their youth system is very good.
Beating scum 6 on the belt yeah ill have more of that..wembley finals yeah that too
7 matches in 10 years isn't enough though is it. Especailly when we lost the one at Wembley. Hopefully we're aiming for more than a cup final every 25 years and beating the mags. All academic anyway. We're still in league one and going to be long hard slog to get to top half of the Championship even.
Southampton also left lots of local creditors out of pocket and re-emerged without paying them back remember.
Sadly not the only club to do that. Yesterdays news means we won't need to do that now.

You are one of the most sensible fans I've ever read on here. I wish all our fans were like you.

Out highest finish was 10th, once, and that was down to the last game of the season when everyone stopped playing.
The longer we spent at the bottom the worse our long term situation was getting. If we had been relegated sooner we wouldn’t be this much of a mess
Well said. We lasted more by luck than judgement. Plus not all those ten years were down to Short.

You know what Quinn said to short. Your better informed than madbob you like! We had very good attendances for the division. Short was rich but he's admitted himself he made terrible decisions and employed the wrong people. That's what cost us.
Quinn has openly stated that. Yes Short made some terrible decisions. One of them being the fans favourite MON, who was supposed to take us to the next level. Another being selling Bent, Cana, Gyan and giving Bruce a pittance to try and replace them.
Jesus f***ing wept, fuck off you mood hoover, have an ignore you depressing bastard
An ignore from you is a great late Crimbo present.

Appointing MON but not giving him his assistant (for whatever reason) and him not living up here were his downfall imo not the fans. We averaged 40,000 plus in prem a figure a lot of other clubs could only dream of. Quinn would never critisise the numbers we had, just wanted more which was fair enough, if we'd built on the Welback, Bent,Gyan era we'd have needed a ground extension imo.

I agree, failure to build on Bent, Welbeck proved to be the start of the downfall. Our fans are amazing, especially away from home. But you cannot ask for something get it, then blame the person who got you it when it doesn't fulfill its criteria as was the situation with MON. I didn't want MON then after his tremendous start thought he was god, then couldn't get rid of him quick enough when things turned bad. So I'm as fickle as most lol.

40,000 agverage is not fickle ffs. I smell gravy here! After a 15 and 19 point season we still attend in tens of thousands. I'm socked at how well we are supported both home and away at times. Even after back to back relegations we get 30,000 averages. It's mental to criticise our fanbase. If anything were too lloyal. To say we should get an extra 8 thousand when flirting with relegation for best part of a decade after our record prior to this is madness. Short was to blame for our position and in no way were we.

Short has to take the majority of the blame as the buck stops with him. The attendances home and away for the dross we have endured over the years is remarkable. Fans are fickle though everyone loved Short at the final, everyone loved Donald when he first took over and drank with the fans. Now both are vilified at every opportunity.
