How old were you when you packed in playing football?

34!!!! That's young man, you can get fit as fuck at that age. Nothing to stop you at all
Tbf, fitness I'm ok. Going running 3 times a week as welI as 5 a side. Its more quickness of my body to react to my brain. Especially when the yung'n skipping past me, I know I would of tackled 15 year ago no problem. I've had bother with my back and sciatica since my mid 20's. It comes and goes, but just run and play through it now.

Still play 5-a-side and 11-a-side every week, 37 in a few months and feel ok. I've lost a bit pace obviously but can still get through 2-3 games a week np at all.

I hope I can play for a good few years yet, still nothing better sports wise than a good game of football.
What other sports have you tried?

22 for 11 a side.. Had nothing to play for after being palmed by boro at 16. Slowly but surely couldn't be bothered anymore so ended up stopping.

Oh and my knees used to hurt a lot. I couldn't stand still at one point coz of the burning weird feeling.

I now workout 4 times a week and have done for years. Squats and lunges I believe have helped build the muscle around my knee and they don't hurt anymore.

Snapped my medial ligament 2 years ago, back playing 5/7 a side 2/3 times a week. Tried playing Sunday League again, but after about 60/70mins my knee starts getting tight, coupled with the fact i broke my big toe a few years ago and it hasn't healed properly so it's painful running on hard surfaces. Still get by though, no more flying down the wing, just pretend I'm Pirlo. I'm 27 btw.

53, once the scouts stopped watching me.

Never give up hope pal, I had trials at Roker park in 1986 when I was 13, they made me run up and down the Roker end steps, didn't see never mind kick a ball and they told me they would ring me.
Every time the phone rings I think, this is it.

I'm 40, retired for a couple years at 34 after smashed leg and ankle, now play 5's twice a week with the op and looking to start playing over 40's this season

Signed up for over 35s league just after my first bairn was born in oz. fkin too many radgee tossers thinking they're gonna be a star, and choosing to take lumps out of blokes. Shocker of a broken leg in second game made me realise there's more to life than kicking a ball, in that situation. Shame, as I'm still fit enough and love kicking a ball.

30 now and considering stopping. Been in teams whilst being out here (China) but about a year and a half ago I damaged my shoulder pretty badly. Maybe around 7 months later after physio I made a comeback (generally left wing or reluctantly left back) and 2 guys were recruited for those positions. Tried playing for a few months and I just had nothing in my legs (even though I was going to the gym and running lots) and my Achilles were just tight and always felt like they'll snap. Shoulder felt better so I went in goal as we had no keeper. Just played my last match 2 days ago (moving back home this summer) and the amounts of knocks I've picked up in goal just makes me think it isn't worth it (and I know one awkward landing on my shoulder would probably be it!). Coming back to do my masters though so I guess if something is going on at the Uni then I'd probably try if I'm able to play. Wouldn't mind starting 5aside though if there's a chance as I'd probably hate not playing.

50 last year, not planning a comeback but who knows, never one for 11 a side too many idiots,5 a side league stuff etc

16, was a decent player as well as I was called up to play for Washington & Chester District but a bad broken leg finished me. Returned after 6 months out and took a serious knock to the exact spot again and ultimately it just fizzled out from there as I found alcohol.
