How old were you when you packed in playing football?

I played 11 a side between the ages of 10-17 but my team folded... I didn't miss it at first as I was at an age where I wanted to go out Saturday nights etc... Miss it now like. I'm 22 and played an hour of six a side a few weeks ago and it took a week for my legs to stop aching. Couldn't believe how hard my body took it considering I used to play every day.
im similar aged 24 I played for the same team for 9 years then team folded I couldn't hack the fitness although I wouldn't mind starting up again I just feel im not good enough for pub football

There are lots of levels of football, should be something to suit if you have any talent for the game at all and a modicum of fitness

Get some mates together and put a team in a 5 a side league. Get to know other players in said league and put an 11 a side team together and join the combination league (or equivalent if you dont live in Sunderland)
Find a local pub that is happy to know 15 lads will be in drinking on a saturday, get them to sponsor you.
You'll have a right laugh

Still playing in a veterans league at 51, 11 a side in the summer and indoor 7 a side in the winter, however I'm out for the season as I fractured my wrist a couple of weeks ago

I would fancy 5 a side played the raich carter leagues for years and had my own 6 a side at boldon and although we had one of the best teams there people get dropping out and it was a stress on finding players every week so was happy to finally finish.

Haven't played for a team since I was 17. Over the past 6 years I've just had the odd kick about and a few games with work, and a phase of playing 5 a side again for a few months. Wouldn't mind playing again properly like, would take a canny while to get anywhere near the levels of fitness o used to have like.

Used to be a winger or a full back, I struggle with that these days though so I just like to stroll about in the middle of the park like Pirlo

Stopped playing regular, competitive 11 a side at 35. Still play the odd game but only for the work team as we get to play at PL grounds a couple of times a year.

I still play 9 a side indoor fairly regularly and hope to keep playing for a good few years yet.

Similar here, junior side folded at 17 and I just started playing 5/6 a side.

Signed on for pub side last season, 7 years after last 11 aside and about 5 stone heavier....hard work

11 a side at the end of last season team folded.
Wouldn't mind joining another team but might wait for the vets in a few years
Im 33

Packed in playing 11 a side for London branch at 44, 4 year ago still play once or twice a year. Plat cricket still for branch if that counts.

39. I got to the middle of November and I'd had enough, didn't want another 5 months of traipsing through the mud in an icy wind. I still have an occasional game in the Vets League.

Played my last game of 11-a-side about five years ago which would make me 42. Do triathlons now, much more fun.
