How many more 1st team signings?

I think there's a player in Scowen, he must have been frustrated not getting a decent run in the side.

He's shite, never seen a player look so uncomfortable running.

Only decent game I've seen him have was Sheffield Utd away in the league Cup however think he was up against one of their U23s
I bet PP doesn’t start him ahead of last seasons players ! We desperately need new players who walk straight into starting 11 not squad and fringe players who get 10 mins at the end of a game ?!

1st choice GK and someone who scores goals would do.

Most Division 3 sides are not very good. So you don't need an excellent side to compete. But you need a keeper you can rely on when your opponents get the occasional attempt and you need goals to win. Any other signings would be a bonus.

Hes just listing the squad and their positions.

With McLaughlin hes still here and whilst he is hes part of the squad. In effect hes back up to O'Nein. He could also be back up CB as I'm sure hes played there before
Be better if O'Nien didn't have to rb/wb at all - think he'd be more effective as an attacking midfielder.

Grants still captain ? tho i realise he had stuff to deal with last season . We must have a captain playing more games. to give everyone a kick up the arse when needed.

Decent striker and a solid centre back would help but South Shields will just sign up any potential target we go for.

We only really have room for 3 first team signings unless we're able to shift some players. Definitely a goalkeeper then probably a central defender and someone who can play wingback.

Out of interest, who would you peddle?
McLaughlin, Leadbitter, Wyke, and Grigg come to mind straightaway.
I’d keep Wyke just because he has a good attitude and is hungry. I’d lose McLaughlin and Grigg and I think find a youth development role for Grant.
I'd add Power to that for starters.
Power did much better under Parkinson mind and started to show leadership. Still hasn’t done what I hoped which is smash a few goals in.

Definitely think we should be looking at moving Leadbitter into coaching at Academy level. Maybe allow him to play in the centre of the park at u23 level, allow young players to learn from him

Good shout on Grant - am

Good shout on Grant - am a big believer in having some proper Sunderland people behind the scenes.
And yeah I agree, Power has to score more goals, and start to stamp his authority on the game more.

Agreed, probably did better, but still not enough. With the forwards we've got, goals from midfield are essential. Can't see us shifting Grigg or Wyke on the contracts they've got so we need to shuffle the midfield options.

Great username by the way - loved that combo playing for us.

Leadbitter will be a different player this season man, his mam was on her death bed last season what do people expect! he probably wasn’t even training to spend time with her and his head won’t of been in a good place
