How many more 1st team signings?

If there is no further departures I'd go with

GK x 1
CB x 2
LB x 1

I agree with this pretty much. Taylor, Embleton and Diamond need to be around the first team this year.

Ideally, Leadbitter or Power move on to allow us to strengthen in the middle, but Scowen should offer more than we've had previously.

I'd like to see Wyke move on as well. I don't think Grigg will go and if we have to keep one of them, I'd rather keep the one that forces us to play football rather than hoofball.

One exception I'd make though is to also sign a rwb. I'd write McClaughin off at this point. Randell Williams from Exeter would be the perfect replacement. 23, fast and athletic, would be excellent on the opposite flank to Hume and would allow us the flexibility to play O'Nien further forward.

Rob Elliot
Bailey Wright
Charlie Goode
Luke Garbutt
Randell Williams

Then if we can offload Leadbitter and Wyke, I'd look to a couple of Premier League youngsters to add options.

For me we need as starters;
Striker / regular goalscorer
Keeper
I’d go for a right back and push’O Nien into competition with Power so we have goals
Bailey Wright
U23 solid left back as competition in case we
Another u23 centre back who could step up as reserve
I’d also try and get a tune out of Diamond and Embleton in the squad

I’d lose McLaughlin and Grigg if we can. Both pointless and are blocking younger players In the squad.

We need u23’s ready to step up not ones who aren’t even good enough for the u23’s.

Think we got money for Pantilimon as well but it really is slim picking as to the players we sold for a profit
Overall our transfer strategy has been shite, mostly “established” and overpriced as well as being at an age that was likely to mean they wouldn’t get better and would be less saleable. PVA and Wickham, Ndong being noteable exceptions. Arguably unlucky with AJ but our signings have been very poor for some time.

Think the model we have been using is how the bankrupt a football club.

Absolutely no strategy and a scattergun approach

Still a possibility if a sale doesn’t go through, SD isn’t sufficiently wealthy to prop us up without parachute payment and in current circumstances. Really need to throw everything at the academy, target under 25 players that should have value and accept that for at least five years we’ll have to sell our very best at the right time. For example Kone should have been sold for 20m despite the likely crowd reaction. I suspect BSA would have sanctioned the sale too, he’d have known what to do with it!

Last season best goalscorer got 12 ... We need a 20 + man up front . Is Obrien the man ? Hope so .

Wellens wants to get 6 more in (including some extensions) within the next 2 weeks. Then 3 Key ones after that.
Starting to take some shape but need 2 keepers and 3 forwards.
Defence and Midfield looking very good at present to cope with League One.
Wants 2 players for every position.

His attention to detail is just incredible and we are lucky to have him.
Make the most of it as he will manage at a higher level without doubt.

Grant (player of the season) should be signing Monday. This lad whilst 33 is the perfect the midfield holding player.

Interesting comment made yesterday about your budget said it’s big and not many will complete with it. Which ever way you look at it you should get out of this division.

We need a decent midfielder, a stand out signing that will get us promoted. I think that has to be priority #1.
also another goalkeeper.

maybe a centre half. Maybe a left back actually as well...
and if we can shift Wyke and Grigg, a 20 goal a season forward. I can't see our current forwards scoring goals. The new fella I will reserve judgement until I see him play 5 games.

Weve been saying that about our budget for the past 2 seasons and we are still here

Think we have too many midfielders as it is. Need to shift some before we sign anymore

We do, but they are crap. So I agree, shift some midfielders then sign a quality midfielder (or vice versa) - we are seriously lacking in the middle of the park , I'd say.

If we’re in championship we need 4 or 5 players to be comfortably competitive, if we’re in league one we’ve got enough to piss it, even if Woodrow & Mowatt leave.

Need;

GK - Not a huge fan of Burge. Canny cover though.

RWB - O’Nien is canny there but we could do with a natural in that position which could allow O’Nien back into midfield and also cover at RWB if necessary.

CB - To play alongside Willis and fingers crossed Wright. Flanaghan should be cover at best. If he’s starting we aren’t going anywhere.

CM - 2 of. I don’t rate Power at all, and Dobson while the better of the 2 isn’t good enough to help get us out of this league.

CF - Again 2 of. Wyke and Grigg are not good enough.

So for me, another 7 at the bare minimum providing we sign Wright. All players who would go straight into our starting 11. I know it isn’t going to happen but that’s what I think we’d need to go up.

Can McLaughlin really be a first choice right- back?
He's been awful since he came, can't remember him ever having a good game.
Hes just listing the squad and their positions.

With McLaughlin hes still here and whilst he is hes part of the squad. In effect hes back up to O'Nein. He could also be back up CB as I'm sure hes played there before

Met up with a QPR mate who knows his stuff last night, was surprised we signed Lynch as he says he never shows commitment but said Scowen is very good..

I think there's a player in Scowen, he must have been frustrated not getting a decent run in the side.

He's shite, never seen a player look so uncomfortable running.

Only decent game I've seen him have was Sheffield Utd away in the league Cup however think he was up against one of their U23s
