How long until fans turn on Poyet?

Actually we should. I always said we should have had O'Neill in before we got relegated in 97.

How can anybody seriously think that? He had given up completely after Spurs, never mind Everton. Praying for miracles.

O'Neill 1997, how irrelevant is that?
Gus saved us last season, there's no doubt about that when one remembers the players reactions to him compared to PDC.

So you'll let one interview override six games?

I see.
And you allow 6 games to override the previous 20? I see too. (Edit: and of course it was only four and a half games, but never mind)

Can you not see that it's not difficult for players to self-motivate against Chelsea, Man City and United, when their contracts might be in a bit of jeopardy if they were relegated, while being arsed against Swansea when we were safe is more a sign of how good a team talk the manager can deliver?

I never mentioned anything about the previous 20

I can see that you're judging one interview where he might have come across deflated override 4 wins on the bounce which kept us up.

I am struggling to comprehend how Poyet can not get the best out of players like Fletcher, Wickham and Johnson. We have players there capable of scoring goals and creating them, yet we stumble from pathetic 0-0 draw to 0-0 draw with the odd shite defeat thrown in. 3 wins so far this season and that statistic is unlikely to improve as we move into January, even last year despite losing 7 of our first 8 we had managed to win more than three games at this stage.

This season is becoming as dull and predictable as last season was exciting and unpredictable.

The thing is the two from Brighton and Scoccho and Coates cast doubts on Poyets ability to find players. ES has seen his money pissed up against the wall by previous managers. I think his only option next time round is to really push the boat out but unfortunately he is behind this FFP thing that ensures he cant do that. Lets hope he dosnt end up as the author of his own misfortune.
What about the fact hes turned catts into a much better player, signed a good lb and right back in pva and the French lad for next to nowt, and the fact he kept us up from a 10 game deficit, plus cup, funny how none of these threads were on here after mags game, so of our so called fans are embarrassing

But apparently because we won 4 matches at the end of last season the manager's a genius. I really do give up sometimes.

Home record 2014, W4 D8 L8. Says it all.

I respectfully disagree. It was down to him that we survived last season. He deserves more time to progress the team.
I agree he did a cracking job last season and he deserves more time but if things don't improve I can see him gone by the end of the season. Vast majority are starting to get restless. Most of the away end today were fed up

I have no faith in Poyet. Don't get me wrong I am NOT suggesting he should be sacked, but the people who say the club needs stability etc... and saying our struggles over the past few years are down to us hiring and firing managers, I disagree. If we had kept faith with the likes of O'Neill and Di Canio we'd be in the Championship right now.

What the club consistently fails to do is make good managerial appointments.

We were dead & buried yet survived. Gus isn't perfect but add on a trip to Wembley & a decent FA Cup run. My glass is half full with Poyet.

My biggest problem with Poyet and this squad is that I'm usually left with the undisputed feeling that they could have given more.

An attacking plan B might be a good start. An effective transfer window would be another.

But as much as it pains me to say it we are Sunderland, and as such we have limitations - self enforced or geographical or financial.

Gus isn't a tactical genius, he isn't a motivator either. He seems well liked by the majority of players and he has a very basic tactical set up that they can just about justify.

But too often it doesn't result in honest performances. I would take an honest defeat but today and Hull (and numerous others) weren't honest enough for me.

We shouldn't be turning on Poyet. That is 100% sure.. We need better players. Simple as that

Every team needs better players in that case.
IMHO a managers job is "to get more than the sum of its parts" out of a team. The ultimate safc examples would be Stokoe in 73 and Reidy when were flying. Gus is nowhere near doing that. I reckon Fergie and Mourinio and a few others could get a lot more out of this current squad. I reckon Gus should be getting a bit more out of em. Once he does that he can gan knocking on ES's door with a sense of entitlement. Until then hes got to man up and stop the whinging.
A lot of the players who's recruitment we all suspect him of being behind have yet to set the SOL alight (Bridcutt, Scoccho, Coates, Buckley, Gomez etc) so I think anyone expecting ES to hand him the keys to the castle are being very very naive.
