Yes they were rebellious and challenged the status quo. James Dean and Rebel Without a Cause summed up that generation. Then there were the "Hippies" in the 1960s whose music was classed as Underground followed by the Punks in the 1970s. It's interesting that working class art movements correlated to these expressions but there has been nothing since really. From Buddy Holly's I Fought the Law to the cover by Clash they are all connected but not much since.It was just the tone of your replies. That's all.
Yeah I know rock and roll was a development of blues music. But kids took to it like nothing before. In the context of the thread title it changed the world of music.
