How Hip Hop changed the world

A lot of bad things happen associated with music. I remember jarvis cocker giving menswear a hacky look for having better suits than him backstage on totp. Britpop spawned such evil behaviour

And then there was his Michael Jackson gatecrash performance.

Dangerous times!

That's always been the case, but saying everything is just a slight variation is nonsense, there were definitive shifts throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's.

I'll retract that, inventiveness being promoted. 👍
I commented on a producer having 3 tracks signed the other day hoping they were something different, he said they were, I'll wait for the release to find find.
Well whatever you think about changes in music the genre that changed the world was rock and roll. I can't think of anything that ground breaking since.

I'm not on about changing the world I'm on about you saying a slight variation, take dance music, there's more than an element of just slight variations, there's a complete spectrum.

The first house music came from the disco scene. Blending electronic sounds onto disco classics. There's very little that is completely new.

Disco also changed the world then, is that what you're saying? 👍
No, where did I say that? Disco came from a mix of Latin and African music with electronic sounds added. Look I don't want to get into a daft argument about this. You seem to have taken what I said personally and are getting a bit narked. So I'll leave it at that.

Musically rock and roll changed the world. Before that kids listened to their parents big band music and dressed like them too. Everything else that came after was a slight variation of the same.
Record companies and producers often invent new music styles to sell records, or promote their artists as the latest thing.
But rock and roll didn't just appear out of nowhere and was influenced by the Jive, Boogie, Lindy Hop and Jump Blues.

I'm not narked, I was making points, you were replying, if you don't agree don't quote me, it's quite simple.
When did it become an argument?
I've not taken anything personally, that is all in your mind. 👍

Although there was a development to rock and roll I think you are right in that it may have been the first in youth culture and music.

Alright granddad. You seem to exclusively listen to about 5 bands from 1977.
Hey I'm a granddad and like all genres including hip hop. In fact I posted two tracks from the Fugees on last night's music thread.

It was just the tone of your replies. That's all.

Yeah I know rock and roll was a development of blues music. But kids took to it like nothing before. In the context of the thread title it changed the world of music.

There was no increase or decrease in my levels.

Around 94-95ish I used to record the rap chart on Kiss 100 which was on 7pm on a Thursday I think, and I would stay up to midnight on a Saturday to watch and record Yo MTV Raps, though as a youngster I was always confused at why Dr Dre never looked like the pictures I had seen of Dr Dre

You're right there, there was no change in the tone. They were agitated from the start. :)
No harm done, I still think you're a canny bloke, kind of.
Seriously though I try and avoid online disagreements / arguments these days.
It's why I avoid a certain forum. Every thread is one long argument. A load of people who take themselves and their political opinions very seriously. With about 3 or 4 others just taking the piss out of them. Winding them up even more than their normal state of tension. It's funny for a while then........

I’m sarcastic but it’s just that, I’m exactly the same in real life, some get it, some don’t.

I sometimes type stuff but don’t stick a smiley face after for my own entertainment.

It is harder to pick up without expression, I stay well clear of two forums.
I call them the dark side.

All good mate.
We can have other debates that’s all I saw it as. 👍
