How has your life been affected by the decline and fall of SAFC?

I'm just confused by it all. It's like the club has become this bricked up bunker that has settled in for the cloud to lift. We can all see what is happening around, but here we are again; limping to yet another relegation. Us plebs know that we need to invest, but we know that we will not. So we know what is coming next.

Get behind the team? STID? What about some f***ing transparency so that we are all in it together?

Been going since 1984 I'm 47 now and tbh defeats bother me for about 10 minutes these days.

I'm a bit sickened by football the last few years the transfer fees and money in the game are crazy.

Footballs a buisness these days not a sport

I haven't renewed this season and even if we had of stopped up I still wouldn't have renewed I've just got bored of it all. I've been offered tickets for games thus season but turned most of them down

Can't see me ever going back on a regular basis as the buzz has gone unfortunately

Aye, the game I loved has gone now.

Football is shit now. Totally unbalanced and the powers that be do their best to keep it that way. We have no chance of winning anything in my entire lifetime imo. Yes we got to a final recently but wow it’s once every 20 years and then you have to overcome a team worth billions.

I have no interest in going to games anymore. Just a f***ing rip off and you come away pissed off every week. Since Reid left we had brief respite of 2 good seasons under Keane, every season apart from that has been utter shite.

Just wish I wasn't so into football, because it is so depressing following this lot. Seen our teams who would always give 100%, but sorry this lot:rolleyes:.
How the hell can these players turn up and give half arsed performances. I've always grafted hard for my money and to hear of some of this shower don't even want to play for their employers and us the fans, who pay their wages. Just wish it was it was all a bad dream.
My dad when he was alive would always say " I'd give my right arm to play for them useless bastards"! We'd see it as an honour, the current players see it as a chore

What really gets to me is my little boy actually likes going to games, He loves the day out but even he says we’re crap.

Was thinking back to when we were decent in prem and the sol was full and rocking and thought ‘god he would really love that!’ Makes me really sad to think I’ll probably be brown bread by the time them days return, if ever

IF the club doesn't be very, very careful they'll lose yet another generation of fans.

Living away from the north east i have fond fellow football fans more kinder to me when talking about football and Sunderland . But it hasn’t affected my life at all

the best imo.

Have a word with yersell man, ffs!! Beating the likes of Mansfield etc??? It's like a pro boxer knocking out a skinny 9st weakling who works in Sainsbury's stacking shelves and saying that was my best ever punch. f***ing embarrassing post.

i used to be able to watch us lose live on the tele, now i get to read about how we lost and possibly find the 'highlights' of how we lost on some social media channel...

i think i'm better off.

They are going to turn more than one generation against them very soon, marra. The club is performing very badly in the way that it communicates to fans at the minute, in my opinion. Despite steam coming out of my ears now, and fingers itching to vent fury, I'll leave it at that to save any bother.

Whatever happens we are a great club with an excellent history. We will bring us back, through force of will.

Are we fuck, stop deluding yourself - not won the title since the 1930's; 1 major trophy since the war; record number of top flight relegation's (or damn near it), absolutely NO European history what so ever.

Footballing goliath's such as Oxford, Luton, Wigan have won one of the major trophies since we last did. You on smack or something worse, kidda??

I’ve lost the love for football of all kinds. Obviously will continue to be a Sunderland supporter whatever happens but have just lost interest. There’s only so many let downs and shite that someone can take. Don’t watch MOTD anymore or most football that is on tbh. It’s sad times.

Nailed it, right there...

I've long since stopped focusing on Sunderland as a priority. The dross served up for the last 5 or 6 years has seen to that. Going through games week in week out without being competitive or having a go has done me. Still watch a load of football non SAFC related but mainly to fine tune my gambling prospects. :D

That said the game itself has morphed into a bag of shite. I know the younger posters will see this as an old fart bleating on but to cite an example, playing back garden football at a bbq with some friends kids last week and the little soft cocks were rolling around on the floor banging hands into the turf theatrically everytime you tackled them. This is where we're at monkey see monkey do.

The modern serving of football is fucked.

Diving and looking for fouls, feigning injuries from knocks that are less than you get in a supermarket aisle ffs.

Bang average, and in some cases downright rank players, earning annual salaries on a weekly basis.

No hope of ever getting a good manager, assembling a squad that could challenge for titles and establishing yourselves in the upper echelons. The only chance you have is a fairytale one off season before anyone half decent is cherrypicked or has his agent banging on the door for double his money or he's off to a more 'interesting project'

Unlucky for the young lads that this bag of shit is what you're left with. Life is short, get out now and find something more interesting to do with your time would be my advice

Brilliant post. Superb.

6 league titles marra, the mags have only 4

As the father of 4 kids including a football daft 7 year old on the Hampshire/ Surrey border - it’s a feeling of sadness and despondency mixed with guilt. I promised my son fun away days and wins throughout the turgid frot of the relegation season- and this year, its even worse. I don’t want to take him to away games as we tend to fight Amongst ourselves when we are this shi*e and he’ll be further scarred for life.

Then I had to tell him on Friday that Lewis Grabban had been recalled- “Daddy- why don’t people want to play for us?” He’s Genuinely heart broken.

I reckon I’ve got 6-12 months before he gets lured to one of the plastic southern clubs.

Then there is a real empathy for hard grafting people that pay money they dont have to sit in a rotting carcass of a stadium feeling their life force energy ebb away every fortnight in front of journeyman and chancers that earn 500 times more than them.

And all of this emenaring from a city that has had a really rough ride over the last 50 years and that really needs the jolt of energy and sense of pride that a vaguely decent football club provides.

Really sad times.

I really do hope that some of the players actually read through these posts to see and understand the misery it adds to the fans, fans who have followed the club for decades, If I was a professional footballer reading through these posts, I would feel absolutely ashamed.

But they don't; and they wont.

I never mentioned the mags and detest the fuckers, I am not one of them, as your reply implies - born and bred in Sunderland - accept the reality. Daft kernt.

No disrespect to anyone on here, but these threads appear quite regularly and then disappear after we win a game .

Things are shit at the moment, but we just have to hope Coleman can keep us up
