How has your life been affected by the decline and fall of SAFC?

My life is not affected one bit...but for the life of me I can't understand any of our supporters respecting any of these players..boggles my mind! 6 wins in a year ... fuck everyone of them, twice!!!
Cannot understand this if you are a MLF....wish i could say that..does bother me

I've long since stopped focusing on Sunderland as a priority. The dross served up for the last 5 or 6 years has seen to that. Going through games week in week out without being competitive or having a go has done me. Still watch a load of football non SAFC related but mainly to fine tune my gambling prospects. :D

That said the game itself has morphed into a bag of shite. I know the younger posters will see this as an old fart bleating on but to cite an example, playing back garden football at a bbq with some friends kids last week and the little soft cocks were rolling around on the floor banging hands into the turf theatrically everytime you tackled them. This is where we're at monkey see monkey do.

The modern serving of football is fucked.

Diving and looking for fouls, feigning injuries from knocks that are less than you get in a supermarket aisle ffs.

Bang average, and in some cases downright rank players, earning annual salaries on a weekly basis.

No hope of ever getting a good manager, assembling a squad that could challenge for titles and establishing yourselves in the upper echelons. The only chance you have is a fairytale one off season before anyone half decent is cherrypicked or has his agent banging on the door for double his money or he's off to a more 'interesting project'

Unlucky for the young lads that this bag of shit is what you're left with. Life is short, get out now and find something more interesting to do with your time would be my advice

Agree with all that...similar age to you , but still gannin,....SAFC means lots to lots of people...Sat night is not the same when we keep losing...but its the manner...i may be dreaming but one day i want to see an attacking side backed by the "ROAR" that was there for big Sam v Everton...i thought we had come back...it can happen...will take miracles, but those who still go deserve it....and will enjoy it so much when it happens....we need to stick together...asc Coleman says 46000 havnt suddenly disappeared

It's all about giving them something to come back for, so hopefully CC is the man to do it, I reckon the reason he took the job was because he knew just how much the club means to the fans, and how it could be if the decent times return.

I don't want to be melodramatic, but the real impact has been on the quality of the time I spend with my son. Loves football as much as me, he started with a season ticket at the age of 4, loved it, and times like the early days of O'Neill (eg Ji Dong-Won), the derby wins, the Wembley run, the Poyet great escape, were really enjoyable.

He's now 13, still loves football in general, but thanks to Ellis Short's destruction of the club, is totally apathetic about SAFC, and about going to the match, and often bins it. He certainly doesn't want to go to any more away games. I suspect when he goes it is as a bit of a 'favour' to me, and looking ahead, he certainly won't be going to watch us if he goes to University or gets a job or gets a girlfriend or whatever.

It's the lost generation of SAFC fans that is the worst bit of what that cunt Short has done to the club.

Spot on

This is exactly what Reidy said marra...we will enjoy it when it turns...it will(do they call it a bookmark the techno fannies?)

One of the few constants in my life..different countries, wives, jobs, parents, aunts uncles passed away, children grown and moved on ....but always SAFC.

After a certain time of supporting them..about half a century in my case..the results, though very important, start to become less than the whole.

A better game/spectacle? No chance, the game's trashed.......................

Funny ...same here...but as important...maybe i need to grow up marra ...what i do love tho is the craic on here(especially the funny stuff)...and the matches , still , in a weird way, looking round at the lost, numb faces in the crowd who are past complaining, safe in the knowledge we are still here..SAFC fans together...cheers marra i feel better

Its not affecting me at all, FFS. More important things in life, though i love the club.

Used to bother me a bit, but we've been shit for most of my lifetime with the odd bright spot. So enjoy the good bits and don't let the shit get you down too much. Maybe it's an age thing and as you get older you realise there's far more stuff to worry about than a football club

Of course it bothers me...I'm posting about it, but does it affect my life?? Not one bit...I have to get up for work, pay my bills, bang my wife and beat the kids...same as if they were in the Champions League...
Bothers me the older i get...which when i look at other posters is odd...dont like seing me kids(6ft fower!!) suffer what we have...feel a tiny bit responsible for making them lads fans and suffer...

So hopefully it returns soon (and before we end up heading further down the divisions).

Thats what kind of makes me be positive, that thousands will be very emotional(nearly said cry but i would be deemed a soft twat) when we get a degree of success...hope its while i can still see the pitch!

It was killing me but i think i’m just losing interest now. Never thought i would say this but i am considering not renewing next year, had a season ticket since i was at school (13 year)

Was looking forward to the awaydays but havn’t even ended up doing any this season

Will probably still renew but i’m completely sick of it all

I hate the whole club. I hate every player barring the youths, they are either sub standard or couldn’t give a shit.
They don’t care. Not one single player inspires any kind of hope or fight.
Coleman has come in and is possibly the only reason I may preserve , I keep seeing people say, they don’t care why should I? And I’m not sure why I should?
The other part of me is raging that as a fan base we are becoming so apathetic we are just sleep walking to oblivion, not just league 1.

I’m furiously not bothered about the shithouses

Supporting SAFC isn't for sissies...any dickhead can support Man City! If you support Sunderland than you're a real fan and deserve better than what you're getting!!!
