Cried, hugged my kids and kissed them thought about me Dad who no longer with us. Loved the club and I understand why now, Days like today are reason no matter how bad it gets as Sunderland fan the good times always come back but this is incredible achievement for the club
I also thought about my dad who was gone far too soon. I thought about the day in the 80's when he came in the house and was was busting with pride and joy, when he told me he was going referee for the first time at Roker Park. He explained how loved SAFC with his heart and soul, how he felt it was such a privilage to be on that pitch and what the Roker Park meant to him. He lit up like the Sun that day, his whole face shone and it shone even brighter when he was telling me about the experience, honor and how much that had meant for him, as he took me home after the match. As a young boy, I realised how deep a love of football and a club can go in a person. It is a beautiful thing!
I thought about how much he would have shone just as bright if he was still here, at what SAFC has achieved. He'll be smiling down with so much pride.
