How could SAFC improve match day experience ?

With the hoards still queuing up to get in close to kick off I don't think most care.
I've not bought a pint at the ground for some time.
Have a drink in a nice warm bar somewhere in town or stand on a cold concourse in winter with an overpriced pint in a plastic pot, quite a dilemma.

First thing they need to do is stop putting that red ribbon up to stop you walking round the perimeter. It's so pointless and just angers fans for absolutely no reason. We walk from south stand round to north to avoid the flow of the crowd outside and these ribbon things are a right pain in the arse. Yesterday a steward even had the nerve to ask me where I was going when I stopped at a ribbon, I climbed under it and said 'home.

If the club do view this board what would you recommend the club did to make your visit to the SOL better ...off the pitch / commercial activities only ...

Cash machines inside the ground. YES
More of those roving beer sellers. Yes
Stop serving pints 10 mins before start of match so people get in their seats. SOME WOULD STAY IN PUB.
Have pints pulled and waiting for half time to speed up the queues. YES
Keep bars open for an hour after the match like in the premier concourse. NO
Play Wise Men immediately after every win. YES
Play songs that we have adapted to Sunderland songs rather than whatever the fcuk was being played yesterday, helps create better atmosphere. YES
Free tickets for SC holders to the first rounds of both cups. YES

I'm sure there's many more ideas ...

The club still dont run the bars though do they? The firm who do have to max their profits and keeping em open after the match means theyre paying staff wages.
Let local art school kids or graffitti artists paint approved safc related work on the vast expanses of bare walls downstairs in the SS. It lokks amazing at Depors ground.

The club should be looking at the reasons why supporters leave 10 minutes early.

Free tickets... Have you been to an early round of the cup.... There's nobody there!
Yes I always attend the early rounds.
Incorporating cup games into the cost of season cards might be a good idea but it's a gamble isn't it, if we're drawn away the fans are paying for nothing, if we have a good run in both cups and are drawn at home every round then the club lose out?

I don't believe they do but surely they can put stipulations onto the contractor?

Great idea about the art work. It's soulless inside the concourses.

Chance you take I guess, but I also think it would encourage current season ticket holders to renew as quite a few claim they will just go on a pay as you go scenario

The "pouring rights" were a big talking point when the SOL first opened and were sold for ten years iirc. With Mr Hutchinsons expanding leisure and entertainment empire (gigs n cafes n "do's n conferences) I wouldnt be surprised if SAFC have bow brought them back "in house". Does anyone know?

I know a few London based Depor fans and theyve all got phones full of the "fan art" taken downstairs at the Riazor. It looks toppa etc.

Make the current pitch side barrier solid so the fatties who cannot go a couple of hours without eating crisps etc do not cause rubbish on the pitch

The only way to improve the experience is to copy the Germans
Safe standing, and cheap beer allowed in the stands

I was at the First ever Wembley gridiron game in 85?. we were in the front row and couldnt see any football being played because of 60 huge blokes in bash hats and shoulder pads standing on the touchline. It had its compensations though. Nivver seen owt like it marra.

1) make it quicker to get food or a drink at half time.
Additional kiosks maybe, I don't have the answer but just make it happen. There's been loads of times when I would have bought something but decided it's not worth waiting in the queue as you would get served minutes before the 2nd half kicks off.

2) Wifi inside the stadium.
Even if there was a nominal annual charge. Would be great to keep up to date on other scores etc and in this day an age it should be available.

3) Real life convicts being chased by police dogs across the pitch at half time, a bit of retro entertainment ;)

Widen the concourse. Very simple and I would have thought pretty cheap to do.

All the would need to do is take move the what look like breeze block turnsyles and bars back about 10 feet so they stadium walls drop down square. Would make a massive difference and couple with the other suggestions of decent beers no quicker service would probably pay for itself over a couple of years.

I think the powers that be need to come and sit amongst us and try and leave there seat on the whistle get a piss and pint at half time to see how bad it really is.
