That's just weird isn't it. I'd be very suspicious about a deal like that. Unlikely both houses are equal value either.
Yeah but you could probably make up the difference, just viewed a house that we like and they want a house we're I live

Isn't it more of a social housing kind of deal?

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone swapping a privately owned home.
Wouldn't be social housing, it would cut out the chain aswell
 
did a house swop fair few years back. all worked out ok plus the lawyer told me that due to arrangement there was no legal requirement to pay my estate agent fees which the agent accepted. check that out to see if still the case.
 
My parents almost did it when The moved in 2005. But the other people's house was decorated like a "bad taste museum" to quote my dad (the decorating wasn't old, or worn out or anything, just hideous like bright blue and bright red on the same wall, crazy coloured door frames and skirtings etc - it actually looked ok in the schedule too!) so they decided against it as they would have wanted to redecorate the whole place ASAP.
