Hotels in Singapore

Aye you're right. Pay £20 to say you've done it, and move on. Although as Hicksy says there is an aura around the place which smacks of grandness, and the colony. ..... Colonies?.................. Nah !! The Empire Sar!!

I love colonial architecture, been to some great hotels across Asia in this style, favourite is the Eastern Oriental in Penang

Raffles has been ridiculously commercialised but a lot of them seem reasonably authentic, still love it there though, taste of the past

Any suggestions?

Close to Raffles and the touristy bits.
The drink is expensive in Singapore.
Last time I looked, a Singapore Sling in Raffles cost over £17.
I paid £12 for a pint of lager in a hotel bar, 1992.
If you want food, try the hawker centres, where food is tasty, filling, and fairly cheap.

I always thought that bar was quite quirky for it's time. Yeah I had that vibe as well about the Britishness.

Ive been in that one, years ago

Last time it was in a different bar to some refurbishment going on. Big billiard tables as you walked in.

Still very "British colonial" though, loads of class

Aye, got to be done though
Aye, it's gotta be done.
I had a few Singapore Sling's when I was in Singapore.
Very nice they were too. :D

Also had a few Manhattans when I was in Manhattan.
