the inevitable has happened - yet more frustration and despair for the millions of Sunderland fans around the globe - another kick in the teeth - but we''ll get over it and some sunny day we'll rise again.

Come July we'll start to rekindle our hopes and dreams as we rebuild and set out anew on another journey to where, we don't know. In the meantime let's just enjoy the end of the pandemia, the holidays in the sun and the Euros.

If what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, we are all herculean.

Haway the lads - whoever you will be come August.

I am already over it, I think I had almost accepted we were not going up after the away game at Lincoln (you wouldnt have thought that when I went mental when Stewart scored, frightened the shit out of the dogs) Waiting to see the retained list, should make interesting reading

I accepted the ineviatable 4 weeks ago when we started the shit run - when I read the chronicles over the season I always had the feeling that simply we were never very good. What It will take to turn this round I don't know - but that's not my job. I just hope the the new owners and new team have some idea and make the right decisions.

It's gutting .
When we were on our unbeaten run ,I really thought we had finally cracked it .
In the back of my mind however there were doubts . Despite our run of decent results we still were playing average football ,we had players played out of position due to injuries , yet performances by fringe players were improving . Players like Neil , Younger and Hawkes looked decent in the U23s yet they were only on the periphery of the squad unused subs or the odd 5 minutes here and there. Diamond has to be included here ,he has regressed possibly due to not being given an extended run nor sub appearences of more than 5 minutes.
We had players like Power , O'Brien and Scowen first choices and other journeyman blocking youth coming through . The squad was supposed to be ,according to some ,the strongest in the division .
My doubts came to fruition with an alarming slump in form that the manager appeared to have had no plan to correct .
As they say being a Sunderland supporter is not for the faint hearted .ITHICS
If Johnson is in charge next season he will get my support so will whoever pulls on the shirt .
Well done to the 10000 that acted as a twelth man for the team ,you deserved better. Couldn't fault the team for effort but think Johnson was completely out thought by Appleton over the two legs .

Even on the good run, when I read the match reports and the comments on here, I never had the idea we were a good, strong team. Player's or tactics fault is something I can't judge, but my gut feeling is that if Dreyfus et al have someone else in mind, we should go for it - Johnson has left too many doubts.

Another biq question is whether the wage cap will be lifted - this really hamstrings us.

I was furious Wednesday night. Nervous yesterday morning. Giddy at half time. Apathetic at full time.

Deep down I knew we didn’t have a chance in the playoffs because our form has been too shit leading into it.

I’m glad I got to see 45 minutes of effort, and that our fans got to showcase themselves this season. But I’m even more glad that we will be able to rebuild the squad this year with almost everyone’s contract ending.

I really hope the changes to the back room staff have been adequate and for once we will have a good season of recruitment, and I hope that KLD puts his hand in his pocket this summer as a one off to get the ball rolling given that the whole team needs to be replaced.

Fair to say that today I’m actually feeling optimistic.

Wage caps already gone mate. It went just after the transfer window closed. There are still FFP rules but we can now spend more on wages than say Accrington.
