Will our government live up to its promise to allow HK citizens to come to the UK?

Up to 3,000,000 applications for visas.

What do you think?

(Oops, think this should be in the politics thread, mods!)

Will the people of hong kong be allowed to leave? Yes the government should grant visas for the citizens. Was it only britain or am i right in thinking some commonwealth countries were pledging visas for hong kong citizens? Democracy is under threat from this brutal uncivilised chinese regime.

Passport applications are expected to soar as well. HMPO is facing a perfect storm of Brits wanting post-pandemic overseas travel, the Hong Kong situation and reduced staffing levels to comply with social distancing. They're currently prioritising compassionate cases and it's taking around six weeks to turn around for standard applications.

Anyone needing a passport soon would be well advised to get on it ASAP.

Build a new city, we basically built HK didn't we?

Stick it in somewhere not currently desirable, like the NE or Coastal Wales or something. Build a port and an airport. Make it a world trading hub.
Foghorn Farage said the UK will be the new Singapore,so may as well be the new HK anarl, then Taiwan and whoever else want to get in the way. 🇬🇧 💪

China need to be careful like. Nowhere near as powerful as they think they are. They’d end up back in the Stone Age if most of the world stopped buying their shite tat.

This is where the west needs to draw a line in the sand imho.

Could be a big economic opportunity for the UK.
