Honest opinions of Sinclair ?

To be fair, we could play Steve Cram up front for us and he would never stop running either

True, he has scored one, and in the other 8 games he has carried the same goal threat as our goalie. Has he even had an on target shot saved in the other 8 games, as I cannot think of one?
There's more to being a goal threat than scoring goals. Comparing him to a keeper is a comparison that doesn't work.

I'm sick of players who graft their bollocks off how bout players with a bit of skill & put the ball in the net

I totally agree with you I'm the same would love to see a player having skill n the ability to put the ball in the net
Just saying rather have someone like Sinclair wanting to play for the shirt than shite n couldn't be arsed tossers like rodwell ndong etc

Haven’t read this thread or the OP.

The lad has worked unbelievably hard for the side and had next to nee chance created for him. Would like to see him playing off a Wyke type centre forward.

All you would have then is two strikers who never contest a long ball forward
Good squad player and will be 3rd or 4th choice with a fully fit team. He’s our only striker with pace....

I wish he'd show some, he kept getting beaten to the ball yesterday in sprints with the two centre halves

Judging from what you've just described, I would say he is anything but an annoyance to defenders. More like a defenders dream opponent!

I seem to remember Flanagan getting the same treatment, too, marra, when he first started making appearances.

Possibly something do do with Liverpool not using him as a target man for route 1 football, but playing the ball into his feet! Just saying.

He wouldn't be the only player that comment would apply to on here, tho marra, by a long way!
You're right about Flanagan marra, others too. What I find odd is how some people jump to premature, adverse conclusions about certain players then - when proved wrong over time - conveniently erase that from memory without even a "hands up, I was wrong". It's also odd that these premature conclusions are almost invariably negative. You don't often hear, after insufficient time to form a reasoned decision: "He's absolutely brilliant that lad". We see these lads for 90 minutes every now & then, we aren't (most of us) professionals in the sport, yet we still believe we know more about it than the like of Jack Ross, who works with them day in, day out and - to my mind at least - seems like he nars the time of day when it comes to such matters. Yes, we're all entitled to an opinion, but some opinions don't seen very well thought through.

Quick, determined, hard working, gets kicked shitless and deals with it well. Hasn't looked prolific as yet but certainly contributes. He's still really young and inexperienced, this being his first real season of first team football. I think he'll develop into an at least competent championship striker.
Funny looking at reactions to him- no skill, can't finish, not good enough whilst still having people say that Maja is slow, not physical enough and " only" scores goals so isn't really good enough. Combine the two and you'd have a hell of a striker but they wouldn't be playing for us! Both will develop massively over this season and are good enough for where we are as well as having potential to really improve.

I feel like if we could combine Maja’s ability, with his work rate, we’d probably have a very decent player.

Maja works hard, people are giving Sinclair some rope because of his age and yet Maja (who had less first team experience than Sinclair before this season) and is over two year younger gets more grief than he does. It's bizarre considering how much better he has been at everything

Think he'd be better employed as an impact sub - where his pace would be best used as the game gets stretched.

Apart from a good header on 2 mins he won nothing in the air and he just didn't hold up the ball at all to let us push up. That's why they Southend were often on the front foot.

I would start Maja next week.

I really like him. Think he's the type of player we haven't had for a while (except Anchibe when he was fit). Big and strong and I think he does show a good touch and awareness. Do think he goes down to easy sometimes mind. Why "honest opinions"? Do you think someones going to lie :).

Works hard and pulls the CB's about creating space for others, he's not a target man and needs to run on to the ball rather than getting it head height and back to goal, the service needs to be better into him for him to shine imo.

Alright Clint ;)
Get three coffins ready....

And yer spot on about the service to Sinkers. Either fast into feet along the deck so he can spin away from his marker or into the space behind the defender. In fact, pretty much anything other than the diet we gave him yistada, ball after high ball, pumped up on a hit & hope. Meat & drink for Turner who looked solid in the air (except when outjumped by George for the fust goal, ha ha) but was found wanting on the deck. Our defence is looking much mare solid, but that's an area they can improve.

You need to get out more.
My electronic tag says no.

i dont think he's suited to playing up top on his own as he never seemed to win any headers or anything but his work rate and willingness to challenge for the ball kept forcing them to put it out of play meaning we got possession back countless times when it was booted up to him

he's a decent player to have in the squad. think he'd be better playing a bit deeper like and using his pace to run at people mind
