I fancy giving this home brewing lark a try, what's the best start up kit to buy then?

Having a look on Wilko's at the IBrew lager starter pack but 50quid seems a bit steep or is that cheap for what's included?

Set my stout off last night, just did it up to 20ltr rather than 23 after reading about the foam overs people have. Good job I did too! There's about 4/5inch krausen on the top and it's touching the lid.

Cheers fr the tips fella's I think I might go for that Coopers kit Typhoon put up as I would be using there beer kits to start with as that's what I'm familiar with from YT videos etc

Best advice I can give to anyone starting out is to use spraymalt at least 50/50 to dextrose in the kits as it makes a huge difference to the quality of the beer. I wish I'd known that straight away. Well worth the extra couple of quid.

For the sake of a couple of quid I'd use 100% spray malt.

I think starting with normal sugar, moving onto brewing sugar, onto posh all malt kits and then experimenting with spraymalts is a better way to learn about it all.
As long as newbies are aware that with each step the beer gets better it gives people a chance to learn more about it all before messing up with something that is relatively expensive.

Bottled St Peters Ruby Red (smelled unbelievably nice, really looking forward to that one) and some Coopers Cerveza on Saturday, started off a Wherry & Coopers European. Roll on Christmas.

Could squeeze this option in there somewhere too
http://www.the247shop.co.uk/muntons-spraymalt-hopped-light-dry-malt-extract-500g-507-p.asp or dry hopping.

Keep a look out at Durham Tesco's, I got the youngs starter kit for £7.50 on 2seperate occasions. Comes with everything you need bar sugar. Usually sells for about £35.

Aye I would go for this to start off with and a few quid on pop bottles.
Then when you get your first decent brew you can follow in the steps of a lot of alchies on this thread by slowly upgrading to barrels, glass bottles etc

99% sure it is a max of £25 which considering it comes with a £10 lager or bitter kit you can't really complain.

Aye the spraymalts are a canny addition. What exactly is dry hopping?
(I have a horrible feeling I have asked and you have answered this many times  stupid homebrew, i used to have a memory!)
