Working from home today with over 100 drinkable bottles of various beers sitting beside me. It's so tempting to have a little taste, even if it is 9.45am

That sounds terrible but at the same time I sympathise. I look after children during the daytime hours so no drinking for me until the wife gets home from work. On a weekend however I have been known to ask if it is beer o'clock yet as early as 9 am.

The wife made me promise I wouldnt open one until the match at 4pm

Probably a stupid question but here goes.......

Since I started homebrewing I've been using the Coopers PET bottle screw caps and buying new ones everytime I use them, rather than reusing the old ones.

Do I need to keep buying them or is it just a waste of money?

Just been sorting the garage out a bit.

Good news is that the storage boxes I got from Poundstretcher (£5.99 or 2 for £10) hold 24 Double Maxim bottles easily. I am 8 wine bottles away from 120 so thats 4 kits. Will be getting a load more Double bottles next week after the derby.

It's amazing stuff. I've never seen a lager carbonate as quickly or well before. I think I've found my eutopia lager and it's 25p a pint!!!

I lift them onto a table the day before and leave them to settle again before bottling

Ah right, you've given me an idea now. I have 200 pints to get done for Christmas. Had to pour a bottle of Wilko Cerveza away earlier as it had mould forming on the top. I'm hoping the top wasn't sealed properly as it was as flat as a fart when I opened it. Mind you, if they all turn out like that, they are getting hoyed through the sodastream.

I've had problems with putting mine out in the garage too quickly and not enough carbonation happening, so I've moved everything indoors. My games room is perfect for everything. I can get it fermenting really well if I put the FV on a towel and wrap a blanket around it for a week, then take the blanket off for another week before bottling. Once bottled I leave it in the airing cupboard for a week, then in the games room for a week. After that it's ready for drinking. :-D

Should get my corney keg and co2 bottle next week, so it'll be a lot simpler after that

Might start putting the bottles next to the radiator for a week on the next batch.. Like I say, it might just be that the top wasn't sealed properly, given the mould. Smelled nice though. Will test it at the weekend for research purposes only of course.
