Off to Mexico shortly (look at me, pathetic etc etc....)

Spoke to someone who came back recently and they had to pay a £50 "tax" in the airport to leave the country

Someone else had also been and said that they didnt have to pay it

Any one any idea what the craic is?

Went last year with tui and can confirm there is an airport tax when you leave. We put ours aside at the start of holiday so it sort of wasnt a financial burden if that makes sense.

Mind the Canadian tourism trade to Mexico in the winter is huge so maybe the big numbers pressure the various tour groups to swallow the tax.
