Holidaying in Sunderland

Great stuff everyone!

I have just lobbed in 2 days extra leave next week as a result of this thread. I want to go down the seafront and walk along the riverside in the great weather and appreciate what a great place Sunderland is.

I live in one of the most beautiful cities in Britain (Bath) but it doesn't have most of the things mentioned above and I miss Sunderland like fuck.

Oh and in response to the Pound shop, etc mentions. We don't have a single quid shop, Wilkinsons, etc in Bath and I would kill for one sometimes. The North East is a cheap and wonderful place to live; a lot of people from Sunderland don't seem to realise how good they have it.

Enjoy your stay

and here you go

Great thread lads, we are too quick to criticise Sunderland as a place on here.

Remember one poster saying when we played Chelsea, they stayed at the Marriott in Seaburn and Jose was amazed at how picturesque the place was.

Its always nice to see plenty folk down their for the airshow/other special events.. Other than that, you rarely see a crowd on the seafront.

that said, its nice to stroll along the bench on a sunday morning, chatting to the dog walkers, grab a bacon butty at the cat/dog steps. then head along to Morrisons for opening! ;)

Thats why we like it. My wife is from outside the region and loves it when we come up on holiday. She couldnt belive how nice it was when I first bought her up to Sunderland. As you say, its nice to walk along the seafront and we love it without all the hustle and bustle of crowds of people, its so relaxing. As another poster said, i dont think people really appreciate what they have.
