They've just opened a new one in the Bridges.

Then there's B&M and Poundstretcher down Blandford street, which are just 'upmarket' pound stores.

'The public gets what the public wants' :-(

Fuck all wrong with b&m and poundstretcher mate, regular haunts for the likes of washing liquids etc.

Aye, I use them for the odd thing as well. Just think they should be in retail parks like at Pallion, rather than clogging up the town centre with their ugly shopfronts and crap window displays.

That I do agree with. To be fair don't know where they are in the town centre, i use the pallion ones.

Just got home from Newcastle where it was blazing to find Roker bloody freezing and thick of fog. Well there's one thing for you Disco

Happens all too often here though. Bloody annoying.

Well in that case then M & S must just be a posh pound shop.

I love coming to Sunderland me , Im coming down for the weekend for the Wolves game and staying in the Marriott and can't wait. I brought my old Mam down last summer and it was the first time she had seen Sunderland since she moved away when I was just a baby. We went round the Museum and Winter Gardens , had a walk round Mowbray Park , had a drink and a walk round the shops then went to Seaburn for chips. I would have loved to be able to visit in the 1950s and 60s before all the modern 1970s buildings sprung up and ruined the Town Centre though , looking at the pics in the book 'Sunderland Through Time' with pics taken in the same place recently and back in the day , shows how much Sunderland has lost of its heritage.

get up early and head to the sea front for a pre breakfast amble, watching the sun rising, with the sound of the waves gently washing the beach making for a perfect sound track. then take the short walk to sea road and enjoy a typically english breakfast at madhatters cafe. once you have washed it down with an earl grey its time to head towards the beautiful windmill which provides a picturesque backdrop as you head towards seaburn metro station. after a few snaps take a short bus ride to the stadium of light. a magnificent football stadium, home to sunderland afc, housing almost 50k people. only a stone throw away is the sunderland bridge, giving you a glimpse into this citys glorious past. if you are in the mood for more history then take a short taxi ride to penshaw monument, where you will be teleported back in time to ancient greece. then work off the breakfast by climbing the steps to the top and taking in the view..... also, keep an eye out for an enormous worm, which according to some, can be seen around the area (although others claim it to be the nearby 'worm hill' that you are more likely to see our long lost wiggly friend).

....and if you want to see the real newcastle, and a completely different way of life, then head to byker, this area certainly makes you apprecaate home a little more. then take a ride to benwell, and watch the locals perfecting ther craft, making street heating sytems from old cars.

before escaping be sure to stop by the st james joke shop, where you can buy your own black and white second skin.
