Holding the government to account

Based on what the government said at the start
Pour flour through a sieve. Some will stay in the sieve and most will get into the bowl.

Pour wet flour in the sieve. Hardly any gets through even though the flour particles are smaller than the sieve holes.

Pour flour into the bowl without a sieve. All of the flour gets into the bowl.

What a chore it is to get it out the cupboard.

Constantly bringing in new measures "in four days time" or " after the weekend" basically giving the green light for people to have "one last piss-up" before each measure is brought in.

Also being too lenient with the whole mask -wearing thing. Shops, bookies etc should have been authorised to throw people out and hand over in-store cctv footage to the police for anyone who didn't comply.

I have my own small business. The support from the government has been fantastic.
I have two neighbours, both who are Labour through and through...one is self employed the other has a clothing retail outlet and both have said they have no complaints whatsoever at how they have been treated throughout the pandemic by the government.
the self employed guy even said that he knows of people who are cutting back on their self employment work because they have been getting hand outs and that he is working PAYE ...
its good to know that my neighbours don’t let their political standing blinker what is happening

I understand the point and it's been stated by the WHO and our very own government that they offer no protection

So why are infection rates rising by the same context??
Maybe they are catching a proportion of any aerosol released from coughs and sneezes and folks aint getting such a big dose? I dunno, i work in IT not Virology.

Now back to - I understand the point and it's been stated by the WHO and our very own government that they offer no protection

WHO - WHO updates guidance on masks - here's what you need to know

What's new:
  • In areas with widespread transmission, the WHO advises medical masks for all people working in clinical areas of a health facility, not only workers dealing with patients with COVID-19. In other words, said the Director General, when doctors are doing a ward round on the cardiology or palliative care units where there are no confirmed COVID-19 patients, they should still wear a medical mask.
  • In areas with community transmission, the WHO now advises that members of the general public aged 60 and older and those with underlying conditions should wear a medical mask in situations where physical distancing is not possible.
  • The general public should wear non-medical masks where there is widespread transmission and when physical distancing is difficult, such as on public transport, in shops or in other confined or crowded environments.
  • Additionally, the WHO has released new guidance on cloth masks, recommending that they consist of at least three layers of different materials: an inner layer being an absorbent material like cotton, a middle layer of non-woven materials such as polypropylene (for the filter) and an outer layer, which is a non absorbent material such as a polyester or a polyester blend.
WHO Advises the public to wear masks - Wear masks in public, WHO says in new advice
"The BMA believes people should have to wear masks until such time that the risk of COVID-19 poses minimal threat to the health of the population and economic stability of this country.
Thirty four BMA council members voted in favour of the mandatory wearing of face masks in shops in England today while three voted against."

i mean i could go on...but what the fuck do the BMA & WHO know compared to some salad on the internet

I'm a Tory, always will be. Would vote Tory if the election was tomorrow. Hate socialism.
However I will agree that they have made an impossible situation worse. They lost me over the rona strategy with the Cummings debacle and now the testing fiasco.

I don't think they've done that badly. We've a high death rate but the number of cases is relatively low considering the amount of testing we're doing. The support for businesses has been top notch: grants, furlough, EOHO, etc.
Maybe biggest criticism is around the PPE in the early days and could possibly have locked us down a week earlier. Easy to say in hindsight.

In balance to the other thread, how about we list the complete and utter fuck ups this so called government has made handling this issue?

I will start;

Dom should have been sacked on the spot.
Hope he knows he's not allowed to visit his parents now there's a local lockdown on.
Giving juicy contracts to their mates that have no experience and fail to deliver despite costing millions.
