Been down in Portsmouth today. Went into town to see it late on but couldn't get into the docks as it was too late and couldn't be arsed getting the gosport ferry across the harbour. Did manage to get a glimpse of the radar off it tho. Fucker seemed to be 30 stories tall!

I don't think that many barbie playing bearded blokes would argue that this isn't 'impressive kit'.

However I would personally think that MRI scanners for instance are even more impressive.

Is there a shortage of MRI scanners? Or did you just pluck summat out of the air that gets the sympathy vote?

Have any of your kids needed one?

Look around anywhere that has people trying to raise cash because the government are spending shedloads on big things that give 50 year old virgins an erection.

Here's another example that would get a sympathy vote. Mental health services are seriously underfunded and several wards have closed that could have stayed open.

How about spending £6Bn on Alzheimer's research?

You've never shown how the £3bn this ship cost has deprived budgets elsewhere. How about not spending £50bn getting people from the Midlands to London 15 minutes quicker and shoving that into health?

In 1960 the defence budget accounted for 6% of GDP and the health budget 3%. In 2017 the figures are 2% defence and 7% health. If there's things that depriving the NHS of funds (the one thing along with education that has been protected from Tory austerity) it's certainly not the defence budget.

And no, none of my kids (which kind of disproves your virgin theory) have never needed an MRI scanner.

Good points, yes the hs2 cash could be better spent.

1960 was a different world than today.

The budgets shouldn't be taken in isolation and even if it has to be spent on the attack budget it could have been better spent imho.
