Hill and Coton

That's when a good scout earns his corn. Steve Walsh at Leicester and now at Everton is an example. Norwich got promoted spending only £5m. There's too many people making excuses for the clubs short comings. Hill has been terrible at every job he has had and only got the gig because he's Donald's mate.

If Donald is happy with their performance over the last year then this takeover is pointless because we won't evolve as a club.

No really. He'll be an employee just like Levy is at Spurs and Buck at Chelsea. He'll have to answer to MSD and not the other way around.

It will be the major shareholders vision, but SD strategy. If they can’t agree on strategy SD would have to leave. They don’t buy these organisations to run them theirselves. The executive board are empowered to run it accountable to the owners.
In this instance SD is the expert whose knowledge they will to a large extend trust.
No different to any other organisation

Actually, i think its more likely that they will have their own people, and staff ready to go on day one, i maybe wrong but i would say by janaury the scouting department will look at lot different that it does today.
I doubt it, they’ll employ advisors to help them

You’ve got no idea of what objectives were set by the owners to base any on their performance opinion on.

It’s very easy to criticise without having the full facts, they may have had their hands tied in many aspects of their roles.

If the objective was to clear the wage bill and build a league one squad capable of competing for promotion with a limited budget, I’d think they’ve done a good job.

If the objective was to build a team that would piss the league and be able to compete in the Championship next season with an unlimited budget, then they’ve fallen very short of that.

Sign players with experience of this level and some who have won promotion from this level to get us promoted, by and large. From the mouth of Stuart Donald.

Pretty sure when signing Wyke for 500k, Grigg for 3m potentially rising to 4m and a few hundred k here and there on Power, Baldwin, O'nien, Dobson and signing McGeough, McLaughlin, Mcnulty and Willis when there was varying levels of interest from Championship clubs, outspending the rest of the division last season by some distance then the objective wasn't to not win promotion and get progressively worse.

As far as clearing the wage bill It's questionable how much influence Coton and Hill will have had in terms of moving some of those guys on given what Donald has also said about him dealing with agents and other clubs and given we've had to sack two and pay others off, with the wage bill being further lessened over the last two years due to several players also being out of contract.

There's always going to be budgets to adhere to especially at this level and I get the scouting had been cut back massively, but already there's a three players signed last season we've sold, been actively trying to move on or paid off and no doubt there would be a few more if they weren't sat on relatively good contracts at this level. Value for money has been in short supply so far.

Considering the yanks are not football savvy hence why Donald is being kept in charge of things I'd expect they don't give a shit about our scouts.

So it sounds like the recruitment team did a canny job then, on paper we have exactly the players needed to get out the division, coming up short is the fault of players / manager then when it comes to last season.

As for this season, i hear SD say we're close to 2/3 players last week, we sign 1, and it smacks of desperation given the profile of the player, so imagine he was well well down that list.

Players we should be targeting are the ones too good for this division to get us up and stabilise us next season, but they are not likely want to come to Sunderland...why would a player take a chance on possible promotion to championship and have a year on league one wages, when they could likely already sign for a Championship club on higher wages.

I think our recruitment has been okay we've got solid league one players, i think the players themselves and the manager are the ones who've come up short.

This translates to "don't have an opinion and accept anything"
No it translates to fans on here who just have a go at anything because we lost 1 game, when they don’t have a clue what they are like at there jobs
Never been one who's liked the opinion of others have you.
You can’t have a opinion on something you haven’t got a clue about . Unless you know what players Ross has identified he wants, what the budget is, wages etc, and whether players haven’t wanted to come. Fans in here seem to think they’ll ow everything! A opinion is watching a game a saying they played shit or they played well

So your saying on a forum which is about opinions and debate, members should not post unless they know the facts behind what goes on at the club, and if not keep their opinion to themselves ?

Based on that assumption, Jack Ross stays then?

At least your honest, you can say you've been watching a lot of shit lately.

We’ve got it fundamentally wrong. We’re contact led rather than data led. We have no overarching principles in thebplayers we sign. Almost nobody we’ve brought in will represent a significant sale opportunity to clubs higher up the league. The last point will ruffle feathers once the new boys are in but it will remain an essential part of how we need to operate. It represents a key way of getting more and more money into the club to allow it to grow.

We need to be actively scouting and bringing in the sort of players that PL clubs tend to want to buy. Young, mobile, technically competent players. Ones who do well on advanced analytical measures. Buy them and then sell them on for mega fees and reinvest. The spending rules will limit what the new owners can do to an extent. We need ways of generating funds. Buying and developing players to sell MUST be a part of it. Hill and Coton do not appear capable of doing this - even given the limitations they’ve been working under.

Spot on. Only twice in my lifetime have we looked like we had even the semblance of a plan in terms of building foundations. First time under Brown and then during Durban's tenure.

Never said I had, we were shit in the Peterborough game bit in the previous 5 games

How can you have a opinion on something you know nothing about, it’s like me having a go at someone who invests in stocks n shares when I haven’t got a clue about it
Do you think our recruitment has been good?
Our recruitment has been fine for the league we are in, I’m sure some fans still think we are a premiership team

We forked out a record outlay for this division to finish 5th. You're very VERY easily pleased.

That's before you even think about how dull we are to watch

We had a massive turnaround in the summer, building the club from top to bottom, but let’s just forget all that turmoil, and have a go at everyone and everything at the club. The owner had a 2 year plan if we fail to get promotion this year then things will change, in the meantime try supporting the team on the pitch

We were 2nd with a game in hand with 5 games left.

It's nothing to do with the turnover. The manager absolutely cocked it up. Pathetically so.

He will be gone soon enough.
