Re: Golden boy Jordan

ha'way then, enlighten me.

if he wasn't local would he be accommodated in the team by Bruce?
what does he contibute?
what have you got against Whitehead?

1, of course he would. do you honestly think bruce deliberately plays a team that isn't as good as can be?

2 his role is to always be available for the ball and to keep our passing game flowing. he is there to try and use his creativity to make openings and chances for the team. its something he did very well earlier on in the season but is finding more and more difficult in a struggling side and playing out of position

3, fuck all but i can clearly see there is no comparison between him and hendo at all. i played the game at quite a high level and learned one or two things along the way. one of those things was technique and jordan has it in abundance, something whitehead never had.

Re: Golden boy Jordan

He passes the ball well, he has excellent workrate, and makes himself available at all times. I accept he doesn't offer much as an attacking force, and can't tackle, but I fail to see how this makes him shit.

People dont see all that though. Many of them are too pissed or not bright enough to realise qualities other than jumping into tackles, pace or obvious skill/trickery. Something as simple as having a great engine and making himself available and linking play well passes over their heads.

Re: Golden boy Jordan

He passes the ball sidewards and backwards and runs around a lot.

He offers nothing as an attacking orce and can't tackle but you ail to see how this makes him shit? What else is there or a midielder other than either (a) contributing in attack or (b) tackling?

I suspect you know nothing about football, so I withdraw from the debate, and think I will watch some telly.

He very nearly picked up a nasty injury today, when he bottled a 50/50 near the end of the game.

Re: Golden boy Jordan

There really are some f***ing stupid people hanging around this board. Henderson! and I'm talking about that young lad who was in the centre today. f***ing HENDERSON was the second best player on our team today (behind Cattermole). He started our most attacking passages of play and led the most threatening passage of play (down the right, first half).

I don't know why there has to be a scapegoat in our team. One magical player who is to blame if we lose.

I'd love a bit of critical analysis. Did he really 'bottle a challenge' or did he see that the liverpool player was in with his studs up and make the right decision?

I don't think anyone should be castigated for their performances like its their fault but Steed was a luxury we could have done without today. As was sessegnon.

Don't go pointing out the players who tried and failed to do something. Point out the ones who hid from doing anything at all.

doesnt prove he has this anywhere near enough. Scott Parker showed it when West Ham were bottom of the league so the struggling side thing doesnt wash with me there. Even Sean Thornton showed creativity when we went down with 19 points

Exactly. Players like this are few and far between. Some people take too much notice of the hype, and expect him to be the next Zidane. Can't be arsed with the small minded twats tonight, so I'm off.

Yes, yes he did to bold point one

And to bold point two, Henderson often hides in games. Particularly against Newcastle. Take your rose tinted specs off. He has a lot of ability but he lacks heart and responsibility Im afraid

He doesn't need a "rest", he just needs to be f***ing dropped.

Contributes absolutely nothing to a game and looks like a boy lost in central midfield.

Agreed, he's been awful for ages.

Re: Golden boy Jordan

The smily face response is air enough, and god knows it's well rehearsed, but what is it that Jordan Henderson actually does for the team?

He tackles, he marks, he keeps his position well, he passes well, he switches play, he gets forward very well when on the right and most importantly he cares for the team. I doubt you care a fraction of what that kid does.

Pick on the players who actually don't give a shit.

Bollocks to point one.

And you can only think of one match where he 'hid'.

The only thing he lacks is maturity. Everything else is based on confidence something that has been shown in the top players recently with Torres and Rooney.

Find your next scapegoat please.

Re: Golden boy Jordan

In your opinion - I happen to think that a midfield player who refuses to tackle should, after 30 league games, contributed more than one goal and two assists.

I suppose he does play a huge number of sideward and backward passes though, so every cloud.....

Absolute horseshit.

There has to come a point where "he's a young lad" stops being an excuse for his lack of ability.

he does not tackle.

He needs to show he cares a bit more. Im not asking for Kevin Ball fist pumping and thunder tackles, Im asking for a bit of responsibility on the ball, to stand up and be counted, to drive the team on (the one he cares for more than some of us apparently). He is getting paid bloody good money for a "kid" playing for the team he "cares for".

Grow a pair of balls Jordan, drive the team on with the abililty we know you have and there will be no complaints. Take a risk, try a difficult ball that might not come off and shoulder the groans if it doesnt work. Start being a bloody man.

So does Paul Scholes. Whats your point?

Read my posts. Im critical of Henderson but I think he can be a good player. He is frustrating the shite out of me. I rate him but I am not blind to his weaknesses unlike some who have totally rose tinted spectacles. Its embarrassing some of the protection he gets on here. As is some of the "hes shite" criticism.

And he has hidden in two games against Newcastle, disappeared against Chelsea, wussed out of a tackle today and was anonymous against Stoke.

Spot on.

Everything he dopes is a kop-out; he passes the ball sideward and backward because that's the easy option - even though it means he hardly ever creates anything.
He has also got to be the only central midfielder in Premier League history who regularly gets through 90mins without putting a tackle in. It's getting beyond a joke.
